2008 Virgin Mobile Festival Headliners announced

Virgin Group Founder and Chairman announced today the headliners for this year's Virgin Mobile Festival at Pimlico Racetrack in Baltimore. They are as follows:

Foo Fighters - www.foofighters.com
If you haven't had a chance to see this band, make a point to catch them this time around, because it's hard to say if they will have another show in the area this summer. There are many different opinions as to their albums, as far as their live show goes, Foo Fighters are playing better than ever right now. In my opinion, the best live band out there and by far one of the best mainstream modern rock band of the past 10 years.

Nine Inch Nails - www.nin.com
I haven't had a chance to see Trent Reznor's band in person yet, but judging by the live DVD I watched with a friend, they put on a flawless, intense live performance.

Jack Johnson - www.jackjohnsonmusic.com
My girlfriend really likes his songs, and yours probably does too. I can't say I dislike his music, but I'll probably try to find something else to check out during his set. Still, if you are looking for chicks at the festival, the best place to look will probably be near the stage during his performance.

Kanye West - www.kanyewest.com
Can you say show stealer? Even fans who aren't there to see him will be impressed. This guy always brings it, and if he has to bring it big to out-do these other big names, you better believe he will.

Stone Temple Pilots - www.stonetemplepilots.com
I want to say "expect to get your socks rocked off by one of the best rock bands of the 90s." I really want to say that. I'm really excited that they are back together, but with the recent rumors of singer Scott Weiland's relapse and odd behavior, it's hard to say if they'll even make it through the summer and play the festival. Here's to hoping.

Expect more bands and ticket information to be announced in the next couple of weeks.

While I'm at it, I might as well mention a couple of other exciting show announcements:

The Raconteurs will play two shows at the 9:30 club May 27 and 28. Tickets go on sale Thursday at 10 a.m. I would grab a couple as soon as you can, because this band just released a killer new record and the shows are sure to sell out.

The Vans Warped Tour will bring a ton of bands to the Nissan Pavilion July 16. Tickets go on sale Saturday at 10 a.m. Bands include Angels & Airwaves, Gym Class Heroes, Cobra Starship, Story of the Year, Against Me, The Academy Is..., Bouncing Souls, Anberlin, Jack's Mannequin, Reel Big Fish, Say Anything, and many more.
