Lisa's Small Plates Hosts Live Auction Benefit
When owner Doug Ward of It's The Pits restaurant in Stevensville was diagnosed with prostate cancer, it was devastating enough. But when complications arose with his insurance, and a necessary surgery would not be covered, it was more than his friends and local community could stand
That's when Keri and Bryan Glorioso, owners of Lisa's Small Plates restaurant in Stevensville decided to take action. On Sunday, July 13 from 3:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m., Lisa's Small Plates is hosting a Live Auction Benefit to raise money to help with Doug's medical expenses. "He's such a great guy," says Keri. "He has been a contributor in the community in so many ways."
Once word got around, donations for the live auction began streaming in from gift certificates at local restaurants to services from local merchants. A week timeshare in Costa Rica in a two-bedroom villa, a PRS Santana SE guitar signed by Mr. Paul Reed Smith, car washes from Great American Car Wash, a golf round for four at Hunters Oak Golf Course and Glenn Dale Golf Course, a queen-size mattress set and more are among the items to be auctioned.
Lisa's Small Plates has donated dinner for six cooked by Executive Chef Robert Vause, and Doug himself contributed an It's the Pits pig roast and many forms of sports memorabilia. There will also be a 50/50 raffle and door prizes. "Our goal is to raise $10,000," says Keri, "but of coarse, we would all love to be able to raise more."
