Island Arts Opening

QAC Comm. Carole Fordonski and artist Janice McWilliams recently cut the ribbon to officially open Island Arts, a co-operative venture of some 27 artists (and counting).

It is located in a large pink building diagonally between the Piece of Cake Bakery and Rustico's restaurant, in the heart of Stevensville on Kent Island.

Artists and art lovers qued up to wander through the building which features an impressive range of art and craft for sale, including sculpture, painting, photography and jewelry, among others. Some of the artists will also offer classes in their various specialities.

Here Priscilla Schieder of Once Upon A Tide, which is located in the Broadneck area on the western shore, holds one of the popular lighthouse sculptures she is known for creating. She also does a variety of jewelry using natural materials, sometimes spending days to find the most harmonious combinations of driftwood, sea shells and beach glass.

Hours of operation are 10 am to 6 pm, Monday to Saturday, and 10 am to 6 pm on Sundays.
