Whitman closes gap

Posted: March 7, 6:03 pm | (permalink) | (0 comments)

After Steve Fisher's pin of Old Mill's Thomas Sillaman in the 160-pound consolation final, Walt Whitman has forged an 87-87 tie for first place.

Old Mill, which won a team championship in 2007, has led in all but one round of the tournament. Willie Pumphrey (125) and Sillaman finished fourth, and Ron Vaughters (135) and Aaron Hawkins (285) are wrestling for titles.

Walt Whitman has two finalists -- 171-pounder Taylor Leighton and 215-pounder Danny Lee -- and is trying to win its first title since 2005.
