License Deadlock

House and Senate negotiators have hit an impasse over a bill to require proof of lawful presence to get a driver’s license.
Apparently the delegates and senators had their own interpretations on an agreement hashed out Saturday over the House’s grandfather clause, which would allow people with licenses now to renew and get a separate card if they can’t prove legal presence.
Senators thought the committee had agreed to nullify the separate licenses on July 1, 2015. Delegates thought the committee had agreed to end renewals for separate licenses on July 1, 2015, meaning the cards would have hung around until 2020.
The committee just adjourned a few minutes ago to talk amongst themselves, but the clock is ticking. Senate President Thomas V. Mike Miller has already floated the idea of needing a special session to resolve the issue.
“We would have never agreed to 2020,” said Sen. Norman Stone.
The House side offered a drop-dead date of Dec. 31, 2015, but the Senate still was unable to move off its position, much to the dismay of Del. Kathleen Dumais.
“We have people in the House who don’t like that there is a drop-dead expiration date,” she said. “We are trying to at least carve out something that is good policy.”

Drivers license for illegals - 2009-04-14
This is outrageous, 2015 for activation of this law will now,of course, bring a rush of illegals to Maryland for licenses. Those illegals seldom,if ever, have insurance and have caused many many accidents and deaths across the nation, thus our law makers enable these illegals/criminals to proceed. This would seem to me that it makes our law makers accessories to criminal activity and reckless endangerment by allowing drivers licenses to be given to those who have no documentation and who are a danger to American citizens.
