With session over, news in the State House can come to a crawl. In the interim, committees rarely meet and legislators rarely make decisions, so Gov. Martin O’Malley bears the brunt of making things happen.
Swine flu so far has been the biggest issue to come around, and who doesn’t like to scare up a few headlines? Consider it a dress rehearsal for the state’s preparedness when/if a real pandemic comes around.
For now, one of the noteworthy Anne Arundel County battles is who will replace Sen. Janet Greenip, R-Crofton, who is stepping down. Del. James King, County Council Chairman Ed Reilly, and former delegate David Boschert are all seeking the appointment, which first has to go through the 13-member Anne Arundel County Republican Central Committee.
King said today he believes he has the seven votes needed, but Boschert and Reilly are still moving forward. More updates will appear on this blog and in the pages of The Capital.
