Duke 5, Navy 0

Posted: May 9, 8:30 pm | (permalink) | (0 comments)

It has been a nightmare start for the Navy men's lacrosse team in the first round of the NCAA Tournament at Duke University. Duke was absolutely on fire in the first quarter, scoring six goals on eight shots. Navy keeper Tommy Phelan did not see the ball well on a side of the field that is definitely darker than the other. Midfielder Brad Ross scored two goals while Ned Crotty, Max Quinzani and Robert Rotanz and Will McKee also scored for the Blue Devils.

Duke's strategy seems to involve dodging short sticks from up top and five of the six goals were unassisted. Meanwhile, the Navy offense has been sloppy and ineffective.
