The Naval Academy will celebrate the 50th Anniversary of Navy-Marine Corps Memorial Stadium on Saturday when the Midshipmen take on Western Kentucky.

Tickets for Saturday's game are still available and can be purchased at www.navysports.com >, by calling 1-800-US4-NAVY or at the ticket office in Ricketts Hall. Tickets will also be available on game day at the Box Office located in the North End Zone of Navy-Marine Corps Memorial Stadium. Tickets are $32, $20 for general admission/hill seating and $12 for kids.

Saturday marks the exact date of the first game at Navy-Marine Corps Memorial Stadium when Navy defeated William & Mary, 29-2, on September 26, 1959. Joe Bellino scored the first points in stadium history on a 53-yard touchdown run, while fullback Joe Matalavage rumbled for an 86-yard touchdown run. Quarterback Jim Maxfield led the Navy offense to two more touchdowns as the Midshipmen piled up 289 yards rushing while holding The Tribe to just 101 yards of total offense. The 1959 team will be honored at halftime.

The current Navy football team will honor the 1959 squad by wearing replica 1959 uniforms for the game, while the first 5,000 fans that enter Navy-Marine Corps Memorial Stadium will receive a commemorative poster that features the five Navy All-Americans that have called Navy-Marine Corps Memorial Stadium home (Greg Mather, Joe Bellino, Roger Staubach, Chet Moeller and Napoleon McCallum).
