Final: Temple 27, Navy 24

Posted: October 31, 7:07 pm | (permalink) | (0 comments)

Freshman tailback Bernard Pierce ran wild, rushing for a career-high 267 yards and two touchdowns on 29 carries. Pierce was unstoppable, repeatedly making defenders miss or breaking tackles to break long gains.

Pierce scored the game-winning touchdown on a 41-yard run with 2:41 remaining in the fourth quarter. With its sixth straight win, Temple (6-2) became bowl eligible.

Navy's offense did very little in the second half, failing to convert on third-and-short time after time. The Midshipmen finished with only 254 total yards of offense and only 117 of that came in the second half.

Fullback Vince Murray rushed for 115 yards and a touchdown to lead Navy (6-3), which missed an opportunity to become bowl eligible.
