Navy Luncheon Notes

Posted: November 3, 10:32 pm | (permalink) | (0 comments)

The Navy Football Luncheon series continued yesterday with head coach Ken Niumatalolo candidly discussing various aspects of the team with Pete Medhurst of the Navy Radio Network then answering questions from the audience.

Here are some of the comments from Niumatalolo.

(on the 27-24 loss to Temple)

"It was a tough loss for our kids. You talk about the highs and lows of sports. We went from the high of beating an ACC opponent to taking a real tough loss. Losing at the end like that was a bitter pill to swallow. We've got to move forward."

     (on Notre Dame)

"Talent-wise, this is by far the best offensive unit that we've seen so far. Jimmy Clausen is playing at the level that was expected coming out of high school. He's a phenomenal quarterback who is playing at an exceptional level. This year, their offensive is really clicking."

     (on quarterback Ricky Dobbs)

"Ricky's fine. He ran well yesterday."

     (on slotback Marcus Curry)

"We're not pushing Marcus. We'll see how he progresses during the week."

(on inability to convert on third down against Temple)

"We've got to do a much better job of converting on third down. If we convert that third down late in the fourth quater, we probably win the ballgame. Just like the week before against Wake Forest. We move the chains and don't give the ball back."
