Navy pulled it off, upsetting 19th-ranked Notre Dame for the second time in two trips to South Bend. The Midshipmen took a 14-0 halftime lead and never trailed in improving to 7-3 and becoming bowl eligible. Fullback Vince Murray rushed for 158 yards and a touchdown while quarterback Ricky Dobbs ran for 102 yards and a touchdown.
Cornerback Blake Carter and outside linebacker Ram Vela both notched nine tackles for the Navy defense, which forced three turnovers and repeatedly denied Notre Dame in the red zone. The Fighting Irish came away with zero points on five trips inside the visitors' 25-yard line.

Dobbs is Back! - 2009-11-07
The Navy came together as a team to pull this one off. Dobbs was ready and set to go in this game. This game kept us on our feet here at home. They had Navy counted out even before the game started. Dobbs is a born leader with His steps ordered by GOD you just can't touch that! Mids keep up the AWESOME work but don't get to the end and STOP playing the game. Give it all you have until the end. I love this type of game it was so exciting :>
