Notre Dame MVPs

The following Midshipmen were named Most Valuable Players for the Notre Dame game.
OFFENSE: Quarterback Ricky Dobbs, fullback Vince Murray and center-guard Curtis Bass. Special Mention: Wide receiver Greg Jones.
Murray rushed for 158 yards and a touchdown while Dobbs added 102 yards and a touchdown. Bass played guard and center and did a terrific job of interior blocking.
DEFENSE: Cornerback Kevin Edwards and outside linebacker Ram Vela. Special Mention: Outside linebacker Craig Schaefer and safety Wyatt Middleton.
Edwards recorded nine tackles and forced a fumble while Vela had nine tackles, an interception and fumble recovery. Schaefer had nine tackles and a crucial late-game sack while Middleton made eight tackles and came up with a fumble recovery.
SPECIAL TEAMS: Punter Kyle Delahooke. Special mention: Aaron Santiago and Jared Marks.
Delahooke averaged 46.2 yards on five punts and boomed a 55-yarder late in the fourth quarter to pin Notre Dame deep in its own territory.
