Delaware 9, Navy 7

Posted: November 14, 4:41 pm | (permalink) | (0 comments)

That letdown that Navy head coach Ken Niumatalolo was so worried about has become a reality. The Midshipmen have turned in a listless effort on both sides of the ball so far. After scoring on its opening possession, the Navy offense has done absolutely nothing. Meanwhile, the defense has been on the field for most of the first half -- largely because it can't get a third-down stop.

Delaware just put together the type of drive that Navy normally does to opponents. The Blue Hens held the ball for 17 plays and more than 8 1/2 minutes to eat up the remaining time in the second quarter. On the down side for the visitors, that impressive drive only resulted in a 25-yard field goal by Joe Striefsky as time expired in the first half.
