Dialing Ivin Jasper, Jeff Monken

Georgia Southern has announced the firing of head coach Chris Hatcher following a 5-6 season. That's three head coaches that have come and gone in Statesboro since Paul Johnson left for Navy. Offensive line coach Mike Sewak succeeded Johnson and was fired after four seasons. He is now back with Johnson at Georgia Tech. Brian VanGorder replaced Sewak and resigned unexpectedly to become an assistant with the Atlanta Falcons after posting a 3-8 record in his only season. Hatcher was hired from Valdosta State to replace VanGorder and compiled an 18-15 record in three seasons before being fired.
It will be interesting to see if Georgia Southern athletic director Sam Baker swallows his pride and hires a Johnson protege and former Georgia Southern assistant such as Navy offensive coordinator Ivin Jasper or Georgia Tech slotbacks coach Jeff Monken.
