Georgia Southern Hires Monken

As expected, former Navy and current Georgia Tech slotbacks coach Jeff Monken has accepted the Georgia Southern head coaching position that was offered last week. The formal announcement was made on Sunday.
I attended the Georgia Tech-Georgia game on Saturday and saw Jeff's father, whom I had met while Jeff was at Navy. I told Mr. Monken that I'd heard that Jeff had been offered the Georgia Southern job. He just smiled and said: "I think he would do a good job there."
