Navy quarterback Ricky Dobbs has made at least one All-American list. It will be interesting to see if Dobbs receives any sort of recognition from the Associated Press or Walter Camp Foundation, which are two of the most respected All-American lists.

Dobbs Named Honorable Mention All-American By College Football News

ANNAPOLIS, Md.—Navy junior quarterback Ricky Dobbs has been named Honorable Mention All-American by College Football News.

Dobbs has led Navy to a 9-4 record entering the Dec. 31 Texas Bowl match-up against Missouri. Included in those nine wins are victories over Air Force and Army, giving the Midshipmen a Service Academy-record seventh-consecutive Commander-In-Chief’s trophy.

Dobbs has directed an offense that is averaging 272.5 yards per game on the ground, the fourth best rushing average in the country.  He has rushed for 1,037 yards and set an NCAA record for single-season rushing touchdowns by a quarterback (24), despite missing the majority of two games.

Dobbs is No. 2 in the country in touchdowns and in points per game (12.0), trailing only Stanford’s Toby Gerhart.  He has scored at least one touchdown in all 12 of his career starts and enters the Texas Bowl having rushed for more than 100 yards in four-straight contests. He needs just 99 yards passing against Missouri to become just the third quarterback in school history to rush for 1,000 yards and pass for 1,000 yards in a single season.
