Big-Time Recruit

Navy landed a notable recruit this week when Pennsylvania standout Mike Huf gave head coach Ken Niumatalolo a verbal commitment. Huf, a middle linebacker and tight end at Philadelphia-area private school Cardinal O'Hara, also had scholarship offers from Syracuse of the Big East, Akron of the Mid-American and Division I-AA powers Villanova and William & Mary.
Huf visited Annapolis the weekend of the Navy-Temple game and also attended the Army-Navy game in his hometown. Assistant Dale Pehrson, who has recruited Pennsylvania on behalf of Navy for nearly a dozen years and has landed a remarkable number of outstanding players from the state, swayed the prospect and his parents during an in-home visit earlier this week.
Huf was a first team All-Catholic League Class AAAA selection after helping Cardinal O'Hara to an 8-3 record. The 6-foot-3, 235-pounder is projected to play inside linebacker for the Midshipmen.
