Navy quarterback Ricky Dobbs is one of 10 players highlighted as Heisman Trophy hopefuls in the latest edition of Sports Illustrated. Each player has been given a label with Alabama running back Mark Ingram listed as The Defending Champ and Ohio State quarterback Terrelle Pryor as The Preseason Favorite. Dobbs is categorized as The Impossible Long Shot and the accompanying text states that it has been 47 years since a service academy player won the Heisman. "While Dobbs faces the longest odds of these 10, he clearly belongs in their company," writer Cory McCartney states. McCartney calls Dobbs a "smooth operator" of Navy's option offense, but predicts the Midshipmen will need to go undefeated for the standout senior to have any chance of winning the Heisman. Other players listed along with their label are Washington quarterback Jake Locker (The Can't-Miss Prospect), Houston quarterback Case Keenum (The Stats Monster), Pittsburgh running back Dion Lewis (The Sophomore Sensation), Boise State quarterback Kellen Moore (The BCS Buster), Arkansas quarterback Ryan Mallett (The Talented Transfer), West Virginia running back Noel Devine (The Electric Gamebreaker) and North Carolina defensive end Robert Quinn (The Defensive Menace).
