My first favorite song

Favorite songs are a funny thing. They change all the time. Your favorite song could be completely different depending on what mood it is that relates to that song or what you were going through at that point in your life. It could be something you hate 2 weeks later or adore 10 years later.

I was trying to remember today what my earliest memory of a favorite song is, and the first song I can remember playing over and over again on my record player (the song that forced me to learn how to do so on a vinyl L.P.) had to be "Follow Me."

This song is taken from Jim Henson's Fraggle Rock, and I think I was 4 or 5 at the time. Fraggle Rock was my favorite show, so naturally, my mother, being a singer and wanting music to influence her children in some way, bought the Fraggle Rock soundtrack record for my brother and I.

I didn't even have to look up the song to remember it, the context in which in was in the show or why I loved it so much.

Obviously it's catchy, but I think the appeal was that, when I was younger, I thought I was going to be some sort of explorer. The idea of having this crazy uncle that explored the world, and then would take me on adventures with him was something I dreamed about.

So that's my first favorite song. What was yours?
