Just when you think you've seen it all!!!
Navy reserve defensive back David Wright just returned a punt 3 yards (yes, three yards) for a touchdown.
Temple punter Brandon McManus fumbled the snap, retreated into the end zone to pick it up then desperately tried to punt the ball. However, the ball went off the side of McManus' foot and did not even reach the original line of scrimmage, which was the 14-yard line. Sophomore Jarred Shannon initially tried to pick up the loose pigskin, but bobbled it around. Wright then snared the ball out of midair then fell into the end zone for a touchdown.
It was Navy's first punt return for touchdown since Oct. 5, 1996 when Ross Scott brought one back 65 yards against Duke. The Midshipmen had played 159 games without returning a punt for a touchdown, the longest such streak in the nation.
