Middleton, Buckley Named First Team All-East
ANNAPOLIS, Md.—Junior safety Wyatt Middleton and junior kicker Joe Buckley have been named First Team All-East by the ECAC. Quarterback Ricky Dobbs was edged out for first team by Penn State quarterback Daryll Clark.
Middleton is one of the leaders of a defense that is ranked 20th in the country in scoring defense (19.9 points per game) and has allowed more than 30 points just twice (Ohio State and SMU). He has forced a team high five turnovers (three interceptions and two fumble recoveries), broken up a team-best six passes and is tied for third on the team in tackles with 65.
Buckley has made 10 of his 13 field goal attempts on the year, including a perfect seven-for-seven on kicks 35 yards or longer. He hit game-winning field goals to beat Air Force and SMU and made a 50-yard field goal and 40-yard field goal into the wind in Navy’s 13-10 win over Wake Forest. He is also a perfect 39-for-39 on extra-points this season.
