A man driving a stolen car Wednesday threw a gun out the window on Croll Drive, city police said.

An officer spotted the vehicle that had been reported stolen in Centreville being driven on Bowman Drive. The officer was following the car to wait for backup when he saw the driver throw an object out the window, striking the windshield of a parked car on Croll Drive, police said.

The driver continued onto Admiral Drive and then onto Parker Avenue. When the road dead-ended, the driver bailed out and ran, police said.

The man was not found, and police later discovered that the object he threw was a loaded 9mm handgun, police said.

The gun and silver Nissan Altima were recovered.

Stolen motorcycle

A Baltimore man was arrested early Wednesday after he was allegedly seen by officers driving a stolen motorcycle, city police said.

Police were called to the Clay Street area at about 3 a.m. for the report of a loud dirt bike. The bike was spotted on Glenwood Street but the driver refused to stop, police said.

Police followed the driver as he went onto Taylor Avenue and Rosedale Avenue. When he reached a dead end, the driver jumped off the vehicle and allowed the bike to continue rolling and hit a fence, police said.

The man ran through some backyards and eventually was caught coming out of the wooded area near the Glenwood highrise, police said.

The motorcycle was reported as stolen in Pennsylvania.

Dominick T. Torrence, 22, was charged with theft and traffic offenses, police said. The motorcycle was returned to its owner.

Two Annapolis men were arrested Wednesday after police allegedly saw them involved in drug activity, city police said.

Officers saw two people sitting in a Ford Taurus parked near Clay and West Washington streets at about 9:30 a.m. Police stopped the car and found cocaine and heroin packaged in plastic bags, indicating they were for individual sale, police said. Dewitt E. Cooper, 40, of Newtowne Drive, and Eric D. Brown, 48, of Yorktown Road, were both charged with drug possession with the intent to distribute and related offenses, police said.

Man attacked

A man was assaulted outside a 7-Eleven convenience store in Severna Park early Wednesday morning.

He eventually pulled away from his attackers, told them he said he was going to call police, and took out his cell phone. The store clerk came outside and one of the suspects yelled that Mr. Hamilton was trying to take his money.

The two suspects then drove away in a silver BMW.

Police reports describe the suspects as black men, both with shaved heads. One was wearing a white T-shirt and blue jeans and had a goatee.
