Andrew Blake
Andrew Betz Blake, 81, of Bay Woods of Annapolis and previously a resident of Kensington for over 47 years, died of complications from prostate cancer April 28 at The Arbor at Bay Woods after a long illness.
Mr. Blake was born March 7, 1927, in Washington, D.C. He left high school after his brother died in World War II, joining the Air Force. He later graduated from Central High School, attended medical school at Niagara University in New York and graduated in 1953 from George Washington University's School of Pharmacy.
He worked as a pharmacist in the early 1950s at the former Peoples Drug Store, now CVS, and later became manager and district manager of many stores in the metropolitan area for over 35 years. He won the District Manager Achievement Award in 1971 and retired in 1989.
He was a member of Holy Cross Catholic Church in Kensington and St. Mary's Catholic Church in Annapolis.
As a young man he enjoyed working on his boat, cruising the Chesapeake Bay and skiing with his family on the Rhode River.
Survivors include his wife, Betty Blake; one son, George Blake of Edgewater; five daughters, Christine Messick, Mary Therese Smole, Kathleen Blake and Diane Carpenter of Olney and Susan Attridge of Montclair, Va.; one brother, William J. Blake of New Orleans, La.; 16 grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren.

A Mass of Christian burial will be offered at 9:30 a.m. Friday at St. Mary's Catholic Church, 109 Duke of Gloucester St. Interment will be in Rock Creek Cemetery in Washington, D.C.

Ellen Bloyer
Ellen H. Bloyer, 89, of Heritage Harbor in Annapolis, died April 25 at Solomons Nursing Center.
Mrs. Bloyer was born Oct. 5, 1918, in Montana.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Frank Bloyer.
Survivors include two sons, Raymond K. and Richard A. Bloyer; two grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.
Family and friends may visit at 10 a.m. today at Beall Funeral Home, 6512 N.W. Crain Highway in Bowie. Funeral services will follow at 10:30 a.m., and interment will be in the Maryland Veteran's Cemetery in Crownsville.

Mary Boarman
Mary Frances Boarman, 61, a resident of Severna Park since 1987 and formerly of Bowie, died of lymphoma April 29 in her home.
Born Jan. 27, 1947, in Washington, D.C., to the late William and Mary Vandegrift, Mrs. Boarman was raised in Hyattsville. She attended St. Jerome School in Hyattsville, Elizabeth Seton High School in Bladensburg, St. Joseph College in Emmittsburg and the University of North Carolina at Wilmington, and graduated from the University of Maryland.
She was a settlement officer at Beltway Title Co.
Mrs. Boarman was a member of Miles River Yacht Club, Forked Creek Yacht Club and Our Lady of the Fields Catholic Church.
She enjoyed gardening, boating, cooking, shopping, and being active in the Democratic Party.
Survivors include her husband of 31 years, William J. Boarman; one son, Christopher W. Roebuck of San Francisco; and one daughter, Lauren E. Boarman of Gambrills.

James Morgan
James Henry "Jim" Morgan, 84, of Annapolis died of natural causes April 28 in his home.
Mr. Morgan was born Nov. 1, 1925, in Bryn Mawr, Pa., and graduated from Annapolis High School in 1942 and Eastern College of Business and Law with an associate of accounting degree in 1949.
He worked for Automobile Accounting, Jones, Inc., Brown-Hartung, Inc., and Hartung Dodge until 1964, when he started the H&R Block Tax Service in Annapolis. He was a franchise holder until he sold it to his son in 1985, and continued to work there until the present.
During World War II, Mr. Morgan was in the Navy from 1942 to 1945, serving in Iwo Jima and the South Pacific. He received the WWII Victory Medal.
He was a member of Eastport United Methodist Church, Annapolis Elks Lodge 622, the former Annapolis Roads Country Club, the Fleet Reserve Club, St. Mary's Athletic Association, University of Maryland Terrapin Club and the Naval Academy Golf Association.
He was a founding member and past president of the Annapolis Touchdown Club, and past president of the Annapolis Lions Club and the Annapolis Jaycees.
A lifelong sports enthusiast, Mr. Morgan enjoyed attending sporting events of his sons and grandchildren. He made a bid for the city council as an alderman for the 7th Ward in the early 1980s.
He was preceded in death by his wife of 56 years and high school sweetheart, Rae Lee Morgan, who died in 2001; one son, Kelly S. Morgan, who died in 2005; two brothers, Nathan and Daniel Morgan; and two sisters, Patty Morgan Sweeney and Beatrice Henderson.
Survivors include four sons, Geofrey A. Morgan, W. Adam Morgan and James J. Morgan III of Annapolis and Townsend J. Morgan of Rock Hill, S.C.; three sisters, Eliza W. Stever of Tucson, Ariz., Arabella Martin of Vancouver, British Columbia in Canada and Margaret Kohler of Bradford, N.H.; and eight grandchildren.

Wilbur Murray
Wilbur Henry Murray, 82, of Annapolis died of renal failure April 7 in Victoria's Boarding Care in Vallejo, Calif.
Mr. Murray was born March 11, 1926, in the Skidmore community of Annapolis to the late George and Mary Ida "Maimie" Curry Murray. He was educated in Anne Arundel County Public Schools, and made his home in San Francisco and Vallejo.
He served in the Navy.
He was an avid bowler and a member of Friendship Missionary Baptist Church. He was active in the church Strong Men's ministry and the food pantry. He loved listening to the Gospel and especially enjoyed Bishop T.D. Jakes.
He was preceded in death by seven brothers and three sisters.
Survivors include his wife, Doris Brown Murray; and one brother, William Oliver Murray of Severna Park.
Funeral services were held April 16 in Vallejo. Interment was in the Sacramento Veterans Cemetery in Wilson, Calif. Arrangements were by Colonial Chapels in Vallejo.
Ernest Thomas
Ernest Joseph "Ernie" Thomas Jr., 78, a resident of Grasonville for 14 years, died April 28 in his home after a lengthy illness.
Mr. Thomas was born May 19, 1929, in Washington, D.C., to the late Ernest and Maude Thomas. In his youth he spent considerable time with his brother at the Boys Club of Washington, eventually becoming a champions swimmer and diver.
He joined the Navy in 1946, and served aboard the USS Salerno Bay in the Atlantic Fleet. He was honorably discharged in 1948.
He worked for General Electric's small appliance division for 37 years, retiring in 1987. He started his career with GE in the warehouse in Washington, working his way up to become district sales representative.
He was a member of American Legion Post 217 in College Park for 49 years. He was also a member of the Fleet Reserve Club, the Kent Island Yacht Club, the Elks and the Moose.
He loved spending time with his friends on Kent Island, as well as his 20-year winter home in Punta Gorda, Fla. He was an avid fisherman and could often be seen with friends and family aboard his boat, the Good Times.
Survivors include his wife of 58 years, Anne Lucille Thomas; two sons, Michael Joseph Thomas of Silver Spring and Daniel Mark Thomas of Davidsonville; one daughter, Jan Marie Hettenhouser of Vienna, Va; five grandchildren, and one great-granddaughter.
Family and friends may visit from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. tomorrow at Fellows, Helfenbein and Newnam Funeral Home, 106 Shamrock Road in Chester. A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. Friday at Kent Island United Methodist Church, 2739 Cox's Neck Road in Chester. Internment will be private.

Keira Mosaid
Keira Gwenise Mosaid, 18, of Crofton died in a car accident April 20 on Route 424 in Gambrills. A full story ran in the April 21 edition of The Capital.
Ms. Mosaid was born Oct. 9, 1989, in Silver Spring to Lachelle and Tarig Mosaid of Crofton. She attended Four Seasons Elementary School, Crofton Middle School and South River High School, graduating in May, and was a student at Bowie State University.
She had recently became a Christian, and loved to express herself through poetry. She hoped to become a lawyer, her family said, and was known for thoughts beyond her years. She was also known for her smile, and loved to sleep, her family said. She loved her family and friends; she and her younger brother were inseparable.
Survivors include her brother, Talial Mosaid of Crofton; and her grandparents, "GG" Gwen and Loyal Dean Dodson Sr. of Gambrills and Mahmud Mosaid.
Funeral services were held April 24 at Judah Temple in Bowie. Arrangements are by Donaldson's Funeral Home.
Margaret Tyson
Dr. Margaret Gould "Peg" Tyson, 87, of Annapolis and New York, died peacefully in her sleep April 25 at Fairhaven Reitrement Community after a long illness.
Dr. Tyson was born Aug. 8, 1920, in Baltimore to the late Harriet Berry and James Wood Tyson III. She graduated from Garrison Forest School and studied nursing at the former Woman's Hospital. She earned her bachelor's and master's degrees in nursing education at the University of Maryland and her doctorate from Columbia University in New York City.
In 1958, Dr. Tyson served as professor and the first Dean of Nursing at the University of Virginia. For 15 years she served on the faculty of the Department of Nursing Education at the Teacher's College at Columbia University, before taking a sabbatical in 1970 when she traveled around the world. She went on to serve as Dean and Professor of Nursing at Hunter-Bellevue and Dean and Professor of Nursing for SUNY in Binghamton, N.Y.
She was a member of the American Nurse's Association and the National League for Nursing, and was appointed by Queen Elizabeth II for membership in the Hospital Order of St. John of Jerusalem. She was honored by Garrison Forest School, where she was one of the Inaugural Class of 2007 inducted into the Hall of Excellence, and was also presented with the Driscoll Award.
She was a life-long, active member of the Episcopal Church and a member of the Society of the Companions of the Holy Cross. She was a member of St. Anne's Episcopal Parish in Annapolis and in the summer worshipped regularly at the Church of Our Savior in Canaan, N.Y.
She was preceded in death by one sister, Patricia Tyson Harrison, who died in 1985.
Survivors include one brother, James Wood Tyson IV of Tarpon Springs, Fla.; and one sister, Elizabeth Tyson Sosnowski of Charleston, S.C.
A memorial service will be held at 2 p.m. May 8 at Fairhaven Retirement Community, 7200 Third Ave. in Sykesville. A second memorial service is planned for July 5th in Canaan.

Eileen Wasson
Eileen Randall Wasson, 86, a resident of Madison, Ind., and formerly a resident of Severna Park for 47 years, died April 27 at the University of Louisville Hospital in Louisville, Ky.
Mrs. Wasson was born Nov, 20, 1921, in Christian County, Ill., to the late Irl and Audrey Colclasure Randall. Raised in Blue Mound, Ill., she graduated from Blue Mound High School in 1939. She also attended business school in Decatur, Ill. She moved from Severna Park to Madison in June 2007.
She worked as a secretary in the medical field at St. Agnes Hospital in Baltimore for several years. Prior to that, she had worked as a secretary for several insurance companies.
She was a member of the Woods Memorial Presbyterian Church, where she served on various committees and was its treasurer for 47 years. She was also a charter member and served as regent of Fort Severn Chapter of the Daughters of the American Revolution and a member of the Colonial Dames, Severna Park Chapter. She served for many years as a Girl Scouts leader.
Mrs. Wasson enjoyed genealogy, painting, needlework, tatting, caning, quilting and gardening. She also enjoyed playing the mandolin, piano and organ.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Harold M. Wasson, whom she married in 1947; and one half sister, Marian Sughrue.
Survivors include one son, Harold Randall Wasson of Madison; one daughter, Caryl Lynne Liptak of Madison; and two grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. tomorrow at the First Christian Church of Blue Mound, 100 S. Lewis St. in Blue Mound. Interment will follow in Hall Cemetery in Blue Mound, Ill. Arrangements are by Morgan and Nay Funeral Centre in Madison, Ind.

Isabel Winton
Isabel Marie Winton, 83, a resident of Crownsville for 47 years, died April 29 at Anne Arundel Medical Center after a brief illness.
Mrs. Winton was born Feb. 22, 1925, in Washington, D.C., and finished high school.
She worked for the State of Maryland Surplus Property before she retired.
She was a member of Baldwin United Methodist Church, where she was active in the Faith Circle. She was also a member of O'Malley's Senior Center and the Millersville 55 Club.
Mrs. Winton enjoyed golf, painting, travel and spending time with her family.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Roy M. Winton; two brothers, Herman R. and Walter Hintze; and one sister, Dorothy Ramona Austin.
Survivors include one son, Mark R. Winton of Crownsville; one daughter, Pamela Gertz of Crownsville; one brother, Fred G. Hintze of Crownsville; and two grandchildren.
