There will be no admission charge for the Patriot League Championship, however, fans are encouraged to park at Navy-Marine Corps Memorial Stadium for $5 and take the free shuttle to Ingram Field. Fans without a Department of Defense decal or a temporary vehicle pass from the Pass & ID office will not be allowed to drive onto the United States Naval Academy.
Navy joined the Patriot League on a full-time basis in 2004 and have finished among the top-three teams in each of the last-four league titles. This weekend represents the first Patriot League Outdoor Championship held at Navy's Ingram Field.
Army has won each of the last-16 Patriot League outdoor titles and was picked to finish second in the league's preseason poll. Three weeks ago, Navy went up to West Point and defeated Army in convincing fashion, 118-85, to capture the N-Star.
On the year, Navy has accumulated nine NCAA East Region Championship qualifying marks in seven different events. The Midshipmen own 24 IC4A Championship qualifying entries over 16 different events.
NAVY WOMEN'S CREW: A trio of Midshipmen were among the 11 recipients of All-Patriot League honors for women's rowing that were announced Wednesday by the league office.
The all-league team is determined by the results of the varsity race at the league championship. Navy placed second (out of five boats) in the race, which allowed the Mids to place three members of its crew onto the all-league squad.
Leading the way for Navy was Fiona McFarland, who earned the laurel for the third-straight season. McFarland was joined on the team by teammates Kerry Hannon and Meredith Meehan. Hannon previously garnered all-league status in 2006, while this is the first postseason honor earned by Meehan.
Navy tied Bucknell for the Patriot League team championship, giving the Mids a share of their second league title. Navy won the title outright in 2005 and finished in second place in each of the last two years.
NAVY WOMEN'S TRACK: The Navy women's track & field team will play host to the 2008 Patriot League Outdoor Championship today and tomorrow at Ingram Field, in hopes of winning its first title since 2003.

Navy has finished third or better in each of its first-10 visits to the Patriot League Championship. Last season, the Midshipmen racked up 187 points to come just 20 points shy of matching first-place Bucknell's 207-point performance to win its fourth-straight crown.
UMBC MEN'S LACROSSE: Junior attackman Ryan Smith scored 53 seconds into overtime as top-seeded UMBC survived a major scare from fourth-seeded Binghamton and edged the Bearcats, 6-5, to advance to the America East Conference championship game.
The Retrievers, winners of 10 straight, will meet second-seeded Albany (8-7) for the title on Saturday. The Great Danes advanced with an earlier 12-9 victory over No. 3 Stony Brook. The two teams will meet for the third straight year in the title game with an automatic bid to the NCAA Tournament at stake.
UMBC never led until the overtime winner. Binghamton's Steve Carlson scored 3:11 into the fourth quarter to give the visitors a 5-2 lead. But sophomore midfielder Kyle Wimer started the rally with an unassisted goal at the 5:30 mark and Smith trimmed the deficit to 5-4 just 73 seconds later. UMBC continued to attack the net, and senior midfielder Terry Kimener finally broke his goal-scoring drought at the 8:39 mark by converting on a second rebound of his own shot and a follow-up by Maxx Davis.
NAVY BASEBALL: Starting pitcher Oliver Drake's gutsy performance against Holy Cross last Sunday continues to earn him recognition, as he has most recently been named the ECAC Pitcher of the Week.
This is the first time in Drake's career that he has been honored by the ECAC and marks the second Navy player to earn ECAC kudos. Team captain Thomas Hamilton was recognized on April 10 for his 11-for-21 (.524) performance at the plate with two home runs. Drake is the first Navy pitcher selected as the pitcher of the week since Mitch Harris fired a complete-game, one-hit shutout against Maryland-Eastern Shore last season.
WASHINGTON CREW: Washington College head coach Mike Davenport has been named the 2008 Division III Mid-Atlantic Women's Rowing Regional Coach of the Year in a vote conducted by the region's head coaches. Washington won the overall points title at the Mid-Atlantic Division III Rowing Championships last Saturday, is currently ranked 14th in Division III, and boasts the top-ranked varsity eight boat in the Mid-Atlantic region. The Shorewomen's varsity eight is 18-4 overall and 13-0 against Division III varsity boats this spring. Washington's varsity four is 12-6 overall and 4-2 against Division III varsity boats this spring.
