Saturday's obituaries recognize: William Christ Sr. and Mathilda Wurst

William Christ Sr.

William H. Christ Sr., 87, a 30-year resident of Annapolis, died May 2 at FutureCare Chesapeake.

Mr. Christ was born June 16, 1920, in Baltimore, where he was raised.

He worked as a self-employed contractor, building homes.

He served four years in the Army Air Corps during World War II.

He was a parishioner of St. Andrew's by the Bay Church.

He was preceded in death by his wife of almost 60 years, Claire Frances Christ.

Survivors include one son, William H. Christ Jr. of Baltimore; one sister, Gwen Saunders; and one grandson.

Family and friends may visit from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. tomorrow at Barranco and Sons Severna Park Funeral Home, 495 Ritchie Highway.

A funeral Mass will be offered at noon Monday at St. Andrew's by the Bay, 701 College Parkway. Interment will be private.

Mathilda Wurst

Mathilda "Mickey" Helen Wurst, 83, an eight-year resident of Annapolis and previously of Wayne, N.J., died of renal failure April 22 at Anne Arundel Medical Center after a six-month illness.

Mrs. Wurst was born Jan. 4, 1925, in Newark, N.J., to the late Frank Joseph and Lilian Schick Hoffarth, where she graduated from high school.

She was employed in the admissions department at Wayne General Hospital, and was a member of the New Jersey Secretaries Association.

She enjoyed reading, opera, history and coins.

She was preceded in death by her husband, who died in 1962, Edward Wurst; and one daughter, Valerie Jean Trope.

Survivors include her former husband, whom she divorced in 1952, Anthony J. Trope; one niece, Carol Ann Gass of Annapolis; and two nephews, Joseph and Edward Hoffarth of Union Beach, N.J.

A memorial service will be held at a later date. Arrangements are by Kalas Funeral Home.
