Monday's obituaries recognize: Norma Coleman, Bruce Sypkens, Angela Taylor and Robert Taylor.

Norma Coleman

Incorrect information was published in the obituary for Norma Virginia Fisher Coleman, 77, of Ocean Pines, in Friday's edition of The Capital.

Interment will follow the service today in Hillcrest Memorial Park, 10901 Mason Road, N.E, in Cumberland.

Cleopatra Franko

Cleopatra Vasilakis Franko, 84, a longtime resident of Catonsville, died May 3 in her home.

Mrs. Franko was born Feb. 18, 1924, in Weirton, W.Va., and graduated from Weir High School in 1942. She previously lived in Atlanta.

She was a member of the Greek Orthodox Cathedral of the Annunciation in Baltimore and Sts. Constantine and Helen Greek Orthodox Church in Annapolis.

Among her interests were football, Joe Montana, family, cross-stitching, shopping, watching golf with her son and spending time with her granddaughters. She also had enjoyed vacationing in Canada and Florida with her late husband, whom she met at a Greek dance.

She was preceded in death by her husband of 26 years, Thomas Franko.

Survivors include two sons, Andrew T. Franko of Severna Park and Michael Franko of Houston; and six grandchildren.

Family and friends may visit from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. today at Barranco and Sons Severna Park Funeral Home, 495 Ritchie Highway.

A Trisagion service will be held at 6:30 p.m. today at the funeral home. She will lie in state at 10:30 a.m. tomorrow, and services will begin at 11 a.m. Interment will be in the Greek Orthodox Cemetery in Woodlawn.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Sts. Constantine and Helen Greek Orthodox Church, 2747 Riva Road, Annapolis, MD 21401.

Bruce Sypkens

Bruce Sypkens, 77, a resident of Davidsonville for over 30 years, died of complications due to prostate cancer May 2 in his home after 17 years battling the illness.

Mr. Sypkens was born Jan. 11, 1931, in San Francisco and was raised in Southern California. He earned a bachelor's degree from the University of California at Berkley.

He moved to the Washington, D.C., area in 1959 to work for the federal government as a programmer in the newly evolving computer field. He retired in 1992 after over 30 years of service, when he was diagnosed with cancer.

He served as a first lieutenant in the Army at the end of the Korean War.

He spent his retirement touring the United States with his wife, and enjoying time with his grandsons. He was known for his lively sense of humor and quick wit, and enjoyed his cats, computers and technological gadgets.

Survivors include his wife of almost 50 years, Joanna Sypkens; four sons, Joseph, Joshua, Ryan and Adam Sypkens; two daughters, Cathi Sypkens and Cari Frazier; and four grandsons.

A memorial celebrating his life will be held from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. and 6 to 9 p.m. Thursday at his daughter's home at 3825 Birdsville Road in Davidsonville.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Hospice of the Chesapeake, 445 Defense Highway, Annapolis, MD 21401.

Angela Taylor

Angela Goehring Taylor, 35, of Grasonville died May 3 at her home. The cause of death is unknown.

Mrs. Taylor was born July 10, 1972, in Annapolis to Arthur and Barbara Goehring of Stevensville. She graduated from Queen Anne's County High School in 1990.

She worked for Homeowners Title in Annapolis and Cellular One.

She enjoyed family gatherings and country music, especially George Strait. The loves of her life were her children.

Besides her parents, survivors include her husband of 10 years, Tory Vanlee Taylor Sr.; two sons, Travis William and Tory Vanlee Taylor Jr. of Grasonville; and one sister, Christie Pecor of Stevensville.

Family and friends may visit from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. today at Fellows, Helfenbein and Newnam Funeral Home, 106 Shamrock Road in Chester.

Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. tomorrow at the funeral home. Interment will be in Stevensville Cemetery.

Memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society on behalf of the Kent Island Relay for Life "Team Brain Storm," care of Barbara Goehring, 116 Mallard Drive, Stevensville, MD 21666.

Robert Taylor

Robert Gerald Taylor, 70, a resident of Glen Burnie for 10 years, died May 3 at Baltimore Washington Medical Center after being in declining health for several years.

Mr. Taylor was born Oct. 6, 1937, in Baltimore to Marguerite Lillian Roberts Taylor of Surry, Va., and the late Robert Lincoln Taylor.

A 1960 graduate of the Naval Academy, he served until 1970 as a Navy pilot assigned to aircraft carriers.

He worked for several defense contractors, which took him to Leonardtown for eight years, followed by five years in Oregon where he worked in furniture sales. He then returned to Maryland with his wife.

He was a member of American Legion Post 40, a former member of the Masonic Order, and a past president of the Big Brothers and Big Sisters of Southern Maryland.

In his spare time, he enjoyed hunting, fishing, camping, playing squash and tennis and farming. He also served as an election judge in Anne Arundel County.

Besides his mother, survivors include his wife of 47 years, Helen F. Musser Taylor; four sons, Robert G. Taylor of Glen Burnie, Charles S. "Chuck" Taylor of Millersville, John R. Taylor of Crofton and Chris A. Taylor of Annapolis; one daughter, Jennifer O'Rourke of Flemington, N.J.; two sisters, Alyce S. Afzal of San Antonio and Gwynn Wiita of Surry, Va.; and 19 grandchildren.

Family and friends may visit from 3 to 5 and 7 to 9 p.m. today at Kirkley-Ruddick Funeral Home, 421 Crain Highway in Glen Burnie.

Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. tomorrow at Severn Run Evangelical Presbyterian Church, 1624 Millersville Road in Millersville.

Memorial contributions may be made to Bible Study Fellowship International, 19001 Huebner Road, San Antonio, TX 78258.
