Another 'Idol' hopeful flubs lyrics
NEW YORK - "American Idol" hopeful Jason Castro became at least the third contestant this season to flub lyrics to a song.

The Dreadlocked One performed the Bob Dylan classic "Mr. Tambourine Man," and forgot the words to the second verse last night.

Wearing a goofy grin afterward, Mr. Castro acknowledged: "I lost some lines in there; that's kinda bad."

Judge Simon Cowell thought Mr. Castro's gaffe could mean the end of him. "Jason, I'd pack your suitcase," Mr. Cowell told the 20-year-old folkster from Rockwall, Texas.

Jonas brothers to star in 3-D film

NEW YORK - The Jonas brothers will be shown in all their 3-D glory next year in a movie featuring footage from their upcoming "Burning Up" concert tour.

The singing sensations, who make tweens dissolve into giggles, appeared this year in fellow Disney Channel star Miley Cyrus' successful 3-D concert film, directed by Bruce Hendricks. It collected $31.3 million in its opening weekend in February. Mr. Hendricks will direct the brothers' movie.

"More than just a concert, this film will take moviegoers inside the band's creative process, and present them in a very intimate and entertaining way," Walt Disney Studios President Oren Aviv said yesterday.

Cruise gets OK for next 'MI' movie

SEOUL, South Korea - Entertainment mogul Sumner Redstone said yesterday he has no objection to Tom Cruise starring in the next segment of the popular "Mission Impossible" movie series, despite cutting his relationship with the actor in 2006.

Mr. Redstone - executive chairman and controlling shareholder of Viacom Inc. and CBS Corp. - ended a 14-year relationship with Mr. Cruise and his producing partner in August 2006, kicking them off the Paramount Pictures lot and ending their lucrative deal to develop projects for the studio.

Despite the severed relationship, Mr. Cruise, 45, is in talks with Paramount to star in a fourth "Mission: Impossible" film. Viacom is Paramount's parent company.

"I consider Tom Cruise a great actor and a good friend," Mr. Redstone said. "And if Paramount decides - and they will make the decision - to move ahead with him, I will not object."

Williams gets degree from Syracuse

SYRACUSE, N.Y. - Nearly 25 years after leaving Syracuse University, Vanessa Williams will get her bachelor of fine arts degree this weekend.

The 45-year-old actress-singer, who stars in ABC's "Ugly Betty," also will deliver the convocation address Saturday to graduates of Syracuse's College of Visual and Performing Arts.

Ms. Williams attended Syracuse's drama department as a musical theater major from 1981-1983. She earned the remaining credits for her degree through industry experience and performances on stage and screen.

Spears to spend more time with kids

LOS ANGELES - Britney Spears will have expanded visits with her sons following a child-custody hearing that went off without a hitch yesterday, capping a three-month period of relative calm and stability for the troubled pop star and mother of two.

The longer visits are "recognition of the progress that has been made, a progress in structure and stability," said Mark Vincent Kaplan, lawyer for Ms. Spears' ex-husband Kevin Federline. At a post-hearing press conference, Mr. Kaplan said Mr. Federline retains custody of 2-year-old Sean Preston and 1-year-old Jayden James, but that Ms. Spears would be allowed to see them for longer periods.
