LONDON - Amy Winehouse was arrested yesterday in connection with a January video that allegedly shows her doing drugs at a party at her north London home.
London's Metropolitan Police said the Grammy winner was released on so-called police bail following several hours of questioning at a police station in the city.
Britain's The Sun tabloid in January published still images from a video that it claimed showed Ms. Winehouse inhaling fumes from a small pipe. The images were said to have been filmed during a party at her home.
Ms. Winehouse, famous for her hit "Rehab," has had a turbulent private life. Last month she was cautioned by police for assault after she slapped a man during a night out. That means no charges were filed, but the incident was placed on her record.
Jones lashes out at Walters
NEW YORK - Nearly two years after Star Jones left "The View" on rocky terms, the 46-year-old TV personality has criticized former boss Barbara Walters for writing about her.
In Ms. Walters' new memoir, "Audition," she discusses how Ms. Jones wouldn't acknowledge her gastric bypass surgery on the air. She also writes about Ms. Jones' lavish wedding, which wound up alienating viewers as Ms. Jones accepted gifts in return for promotion.
"It is a sad day when an icon like Barbara Walters, in the sunset of her life, is reduced to publicly branding herself as an adulterer, humiliating an innocent family with accounts of her illicit affair and speaking negatively against me all for the sake of selling a book. It speaks to her true character," Ms. Jones told Us Weekly magazine.
Lennon lyrics to be auctioned
NEW YORK - A document containing John Lennon's lyrics to "Give Peace a Chance," written during the legendary 1969 Bed-in protest for peace, will be auctioned in London this summer.
In the meantime, fans can see it at Christie's New York auction house through Saturday.
Christie's says he gave the handwritten lyrics to then 16-year-old Gail Renard - now a comedy writer for British television - during the eight-day Bed-in with Mr. Lennon and Yoko Ono at the Queens Elizabeth Hotel in Montreal.
Mr. Lennon penned the lyrics and recorded the song in the hotel room with about 50 guests, who included singer Petula Clark and beat poet Allen Ginsberg.
The song is expected to bring $400,000 to $600,000 at the July 10 London auction.
