Bus Driver
At 1:05 on 5/14 on Davidsonville Rd. in Davidsonville where the speed limit drops to 35 mph, I witnessed a blonde female bus driver doing well over the posted speed, driving with one hand and talking on her cell phone. I don't know what she was paying attention to, perhaps the phone call, but it wasn't the speed limit.

MD property tax
Forgive me for stating the obvious, but the lawmakers in Annapolis continue to reach for every single drop of blood through unreasonable taxation. My latest home assessment shows my home gaining 12% in value in the next three years (for tax purposes). Maybe these folks should examine the Standards and Poor's Case-Shiller report on regional home values across the US. They show a dramatic fall since late 2004 und still falling. I do not mind paying increased taxes when my home actually gains value, but it is not. Maybe MD lawmakers should cut spending.

Doonesbury
Please tell me what happened to Doonesbury. If I remember correctly, several months ago The Capital took great pains to find out what comics its readers wanted. There was some controversy over Doonesbury, but as many liked it as didn't. And it was not one of the strips that was suggested as a possibility for replacement. Now, without any warning, Doonesbury disappeared. I like Pearls Before Swine and I'm happy to see it daily. I completely agree with Theresa D. GET RID OF CATHY with its insipid attempt at humor. Please bring back Doonesbury or give your readers a good reason that we're not getting it. Thank you.

Doonesbury (SP?)
Where was Doonesbury yesterday, Monday?? I hope you didn't quit running it!! I would much prefer to see Cathy go. Who needs to read about her diets, marriage and shopping. As a women, I find her character shallow and out of touch. BRING BACK DOONESBURY PLEASE!! Thanks,

Choice is good
http://www.mddailyrecord.com/article.cfm?id=4445&type=UTTM I came across this article in a local paper and I was really relieved to see an elected official taking a stance and promoting new business in the area. It’s not anything ground breaking but anytime a community is given the ability to choose, it’s always a step in the right direction. And what's even better is the company is a well respected telephone, internet and cable provider. I’ve used Cavalier for some time now and the city of Baltimore is in for some good times.

Death penalty
I see that most Maryland residents favor the sanction. It would be nice to see a poll of how many favor actually using it. Surely some of the cases are not in doubt as to the guilt of the condemned and could be carried out. I believe it would be a deterent if it were used, however, if it does not act as a deterrent as many claim then perhaps it should still be administered for the punishment of the crime.

Paul Johnson
No one will beat him up for taking a fantastic opportunity. What disappoints me ie his public comments abou7t not looking, saying it would take a phenomanel opportunity for him to consider leaving. As the facts unfold it turns out he was in heavy talks with three schools. Under similar circumstances if one of his players said similar remarks they would have been guilty of a violation of the honor code.

Local Artist
Why is it so hard for good local artist to get air play?
