Grace Britt
Grace Mae Britt, 77, of Annapolis, died March 9 at Kent General Hospital.
Mrs. Britt was born March 17, 1930, in Prince George's County. She was raised in Carmody Hills, and lived in Cape St. Claire for over 40 years.
She was the owner of Britt's Upholstery in Easton.
She was a member of Trinity Bible and New Covenant churches, and enjoyed evangelism.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Edward M. Britt; and one brother, Frank McClanahan Jr.
Survivors include two daughters, Tammy M. McClintock of York, Pa., and Jennifer L. Britt of Henderson in Caroline County; four sisters, Janis Zimmerman of Cape St. Claire, Margaret Whitehair of Charlestown, W.Va., Elaine Rice of Clinton and Kimberly Nagel of Norwalk, Conn.; three grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.
Family and friends may visit from 11 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. tomorrow at New Covenant Church, 365 Jones Station Road in Arnold. Funeral services will follow at 12:30 p.m.
Interment will be in Hillcrest Cemetery. Arrangements are by Barranco and Sons Severna Park Funeral Home.

Hazel BrooksHazel Virginia Isaac Brooks, 86, of Annapolis, died March 5 at her home after a brief illness.
Mrs. Brooks was born April 11, 1921, in Annapolis to the late Robert D. and Louise Griffin Isaac.
She retired in 1983 from the Baltimore Washington Medical Center, where she worked as a nurse.
She was a member of John Wesley United Methodist Church, where she was president of the senior choir, and a member of the trustee board, building fund and the United Methodist Women.
She enjoyed her church, bingo, watching Westerns, Gospel music, and spending time with her family and friends.
She was preceded in death by her husband, William E. Brooks Sr.; one stepson, William E. Brooks Jr.; her step-mother, Louise Sembly; and two brothers, Selman and Robert Issac.
Survivors include her companion, James Henson; two stepdaughters, Carolyn L. Butler and Peggy Kimbo of Annapolis; one stepbrother, Charles Sembly of Annapolis; 13 grandchildren; and many great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren.
Family and friends may visit at 9 a.m. tomorrow at John Wesley United Methodist Church, Forest Hills and Bay Ridge Road. A Christian wake will begin at 10:30 a.m., and funeral services will follow at 11 a.m.

John Fox Sr.
John Andrew Fox Sr., 61, of Jessup died March 6 at his home.
He was born April 7, 1946, in Maryland, to Thomas W. Fox Sr. and the late Frances M. Fox.
He enjoyed fishing, bow hunting and archery.
Survivors include two sons, John A. Fox Jr. and Steven Fox of Florida; one daughter, Mary Roberts of Florida; five brothers, Thomas Fox Jr. of College Park, Francis G. and Bernard E. Fox of Florida; James M. Fox of Waldorf and Richard A. Fox of Edgewater; one sister, Linda Emery of Riverdale; and three grandchildren.
Services and interment are private.

Burris Husman
Burris Frederick Husman, 88, a resident of Annapolis since 1993 and formerly of Columbia, died March 8 at Berlin Nursing Home and Rehabilitation after a brief illness.
Mr. Husman was born Oct. 6, 1919, in Ohlman, Ill. He graduated from the University of Illinois in 1941, then earned a master's degree in 1948. He earned a doctorate degree in sports psychology from the University of Maryland in 1954.
He worked at the University of Maryland from 1949 until his retirement in 1981; he began as an instructor, became a professor, and finally became the chairman of the physical education department. He received the honor awards from Maryland Eastern District and published 20 to 30 articles.
He served in the Army as a first lieutenant during World War II.
Mr. Husman was the former president of the Maryland Association of Health, Physical Education, Recreation and Dance, the American Alliance, the Eastern District Association, and the National College Physical Education Association. He was also a member of the Association for Men at Riva Trace Baptist Church and was an emeritus member of the Alliance of the American College of Sports Medicine.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Margaret C. Husman; one brother, Delmar Husman; and one sister, Yola Burns.
Survivors include one son, Fred H. Husman of Ocean Pines; one sister, Ilene Jones of New Mexico; and three grandchildren.

Joan Leight
Joan Marie Stansbury Leight, 71, of Glen Burnie died of complications from a stroke March 4 at Baltimore Washington Medical Center.
Mrs. Leight was born Oct. 27, 1936, in Baltimore.
She was preceded in death by her husband, George C. Leight Sr.
Survivors include two sons, George Leight Jr. of Pasadena and Raymond Leight of Annapolis; one daughter, Valerie Leight of Glen Burnie; four grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.
A memorial service will be held at 4 p.m. tomorrow at Ferndale United Methodist Church, 117 Ferndale Road in Glen Burnie. Arrangements are by McNabb Funeral Home.
John McLaughlin
John "Bo" McLaughlin, 62, a resident of Riva for 36 years, died of lupus March 9 at Anne Arundel Medical Center.
Mr. McLaughlin was born July 14, 1945, in Carbondale, Pa., and graduated from High Point High School in Beltsville.
He worked 28 years for the county government in the purchasing department. Previously, he worked for the U.S. Postal Service.
Mr. McLaughlin served in the Air Force during the Vietnam War.
He was a member of St. Paul's Lutheran Church in Gambrills, and was a former president and coach of the Riva Athletic Association.
He was a huge Redskins, Terps and Washington Senators fan, and loved all the Washington sports teams. He was an avid supporter of South River High School athletics.
Survivors include his wife of 37 years, Karen E. McLaughlin; two daughters, Angela L. and Mandy McLaughlin of Odenton; one brother, Richard McLaughlin of Tampa, Fla.; and one sister, Carol Pfost of Crofton.
Family and friends may join in the celebration of his life from 6 to 8 p.m. tomorrow at Kalas Funeral Home, 2973 Solomons Island Road in Edgewater.
Funeral services will be held at 11:30 a.m. Thursday at St. Paul's Lutheran Church, 1370 Defense Highway in Crofton. Interment will be in the Maryland Veterans Cemetery in Crownsville.

John Parker Sr.
John Nelson Parker Sr., 84, a life-long resident of Annapolis, died of natural causes March 4 in his home.
Mr. Parker was born March 9, 1923, in Annapolis. He attended county schools and Baltimore Carpentry and Masonry School.
He worked as a carpenter for over 31 years at Fort George G. Meade.
He served in the Army.
Mr. Parker was a member of Fowler United Methodist Church, where he served as an usher, on the trustee board and in the Senior Choir.
He was preceded in death by his wife of over 50 years, Rebecca Parker.
Survivors include three sons, John Nelson Parker Jr. of San Diego, and Marvin Anthony and Vincent Bruce of Glen Burnie; three daughters, Shirley Hicks of Eklton, and Joan and Brenda A. Parker of Annapolis; one brother, Clifton E. Parker of Annapolis; two sisters, Virginia Ball of Parole and Mary Wright of Annapolis; seven grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.
Family and friends may visit at 10 a.m. tomorrow at Fowler United Methodist Church, 816 Bestgate Road. A Christian wake will follow at 10:30 a.m., and funeral services will begin at 11 a.m.

James Peake
James Deering "Boo Boo" Peake, 19-month-old son of Andrew and Miley Peake of New Canaan, Conn., died March 7 in his home. The cause of death is unknown.
James was born June 30, 2006, in New York City.
He was a friend to all animals, especially dogs. He loved books, and danced whenever music was playing. He was known for his laughter and his smile.
Survivors include his grandparents, Jocelyn Danielson Tennille of Miami, Fla., Christopher Rutledge Robinson Peake of Greenwich, Conn., and Syd and Janet Rodenbarger of Annapolis.
A memorial service was held at 11 a.m. today at St. Mark's Episcopal Church in New Canaan. The family was to receive friends at the Roger Sherman Inn in New Canaan following the service. Arrangements were by Hoyt Funeral Home.

Laura Rausch
Laura Jean Hadfield Rausch, 48, of Annapolis, died of pneumonia March 6 at Anne Arundel Medical Center after a brief illness.
Mrs. Rausch was born Oct. 4, 1959, in Providence, R.I., to Dorothy Anna Hadfield of Pawtucket, R.I., and the late Howard Vincent Hadfield, who died Feb. 11. She graduated from St. Raphael Academy in Pawtucket in 1978, and earned a bachelor's degree in English literature and language from Providence College in 1982.
She worked for the county in the planning and code enforcement department for several years, and for Paul Reed Smith Guitars for eight years, where she worked in public relations and was the personal executive assistant to Mr. Smith.
For the past year she worked as an executive assistant for The Dana Foundation in Washington, D.C., a fundraising organization which aids neurological research and study.
She was known for her sense of humor, her good looks, and her love of life, friends, music, travel and animals.
Survivors include her husband of six years, John H. Rausch; five sisters, Joyce Pacheco of Riverside, R.I., Joan Hanrahan of Rehoboth, Mass., Joanne Comeau of Cranston, R.I., Mary-Beth McGrath of Attleboro, Mass., and Leslie Pettingell of North Attleboro, Mass.
Family and friends may visit from 11 a.m. until noon Friday at Rausch Funeral Home, 8325 Mount Harmony Lane in Owings. A memorial service and celebration of her life will follow at noon. Interment will be private.

Cheryl Spriggs
Cheryl Denise Spriggs, 47, of Calvert and Anne Arundel counties, died of natural causes March 4.
Ms. Spriggs was born Aug. 16, 1960, in Calvert County. She graduated from Annapolis High School in 1978 and attended Anne Arundel Community College.
She worked for Lonergan's Charter Service and Annapolis Bus Co. from 1980 to 1987, and for Hillman, Brown and Darrow until last December.
She enjoyed shopping, spending time with her children and grandchildren, gardening, and walking.
Survivors include two sons, Wardell W. Weems Jr. of Gambrills and Everett E. Weems Sr. of Annapolis; one daughter, Vondalee T. Weems of Annapolis; four brothers, Gregory and Ronald Spriggs of Owings, Myron Spriggs of Laurel and Ferdinand A. Adams of Towson; six sisters, Lawan Rice of Falls Church, Va., Kathy N. Hall and Lulu Edwards of Annapolis, Angela T. Spriggs of Owings, and Tonia M. Mitchner and MaShawn T. Hall of Upper Marlboro; her grandparents, Edythe V. Chew of Sunderland and Mary T. Spriggs-Whittington of Dunkirk; and 10 grandchildren.
