Charles Clark
Charles D. Clark, 83, a resident of Chester since 1976, died March 19 in his home surrounded by his family.
Mr. Clark was born Sept. 27, 1924, in Baltimore to the late John E. and Edith E. Mayor Clark. He graduated from Holy Cross School in 1940.
He began a career as a Baltimore police officer in 1952, working with the communication division and helping to create an accident reporting system between the state and Baltimore City. He retired as a lieutenant in 1976; he and his brother began and ended their Baltimore careers on the same day.
He then worked as a police lieutenant for the federal government at NSA, retiring in 1986.
He served in the Army Air Corps from 1942 to 1946, and was stationed in Roswell, N.M.
Mr. Clark was a member of the Bay Country Moose Lodge and the American Legion, and was also a life member of Maryland Law Enforcement Officers Inc.
He enjoyed fishing and crabbing on the Chesapeake and, in his younger years, captained a charter fishing boat.
He was preceded in death in 2006 by his wife of 59 years, Florence G. Godlewski Clark; two brothers, John E. and John Paul Clark; and one sister, Frances Clark Thompson.
Survivors include two sons, Don and Kevin Clark Sr.; one daughter, Donna Clark; one sister, Dorothy Lee Conley of Morattico, Va.; and three grandchildren.
Family and friends may visit from 2 to 4 p.m. and 6 to 8 p.m. Monday at Fellows, Helfenbein and Newnam Funeral Home, 106 Shamrock Road in Chester.
A funeral Mass will be offered at 11 a.m. Tuesday at St. Peter's Catholic Church, 5319 Ocean Gateway in Queenstown.
Interment will follow at Hurlock Veterans Cemetery.

Kwame Johnson
Kwame Travon "Funk" Johnson, 17, a life-long resident of Annapolis, died suddenly of a gun shot wound March 16. A full story ran in the March 17 edition of The Capital.
He was born March 21, 1990, in Annapolis to Chrystal McGowan of Annapolis and the late Damon Verron Johnson, and was in 11th grade at Annapolis High School.
He wrote poetry and won gold mathematics awards.
He enjoyed music, football, drawing, computers, video games, riding dirt bikes, reading and building constructional objects.
Survivors include four brothers, Renardo Moton and Damon and Darren Johnson of Annapolis and Dominique Brown of Savannah, Ga.; two sisters, Tequila Lewis and Nyshae Johnson of Annapolis; and his grandparents, John Henry McGowan III of Annapolis and Ike and Clarence Johnson.
Funeral arrangements are by Reese and Sons Mortuary.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Monday at Asbury United Methodist Church, 87 West St.
Family and friends may visit at 9 a.m. Monday at the church, followed by a Christian wake at 10 a.m. Interment will be in Bestgate Memorial Park.
Margaret Musgrove
Margaret Mary "Nanny" Musgrove, 96, a 57-year resident of Edgewater, died of natural causes March 19 in her home.
Mrs. Musgrove was born Aug. 15, 1911, in Washington, D.C., to the late William and Anna Hilgenberg, and attended Holy Comforter School.
She retired from the federal government in 1971.
She was a member of Our Lady of Perpetual Help Catholic Church in Edgewater since 1950, the Londontown Peppers for 41 years and the Rosary Group at Our Lady of Perpetual Help.
The eldest of 12 children, she was the backbone of her family. She traveled the world including Hawaii, Germany, Ireland, Aruba and Nassau. She enjoyed cooking, gardening, dancing, traveling, swimming and attending yard sales.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Oliver Musgrove; six brothers, William, Adolph, Leonard, Albert, George and Joseph Hilgenberg; and two sisters, Catherine Hilgenberg and Anna Anderson.
Survivors include one son, Oliver W. Musgrove of Edgewater; two brothers, John Hilgenberg of Suitland and Edward Hilgenberg of Odenton; one sister, Louise Divver of Silver Spring; three grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.
Family and friends may join in the celebration of her life from 2 to 4 p.m. and 6 to 8 p.m. tomorrow at Kalas Funeral Home, 2973 Solomons Island Road in Edgewater, and at 11 am. Monday at Our Lady of Perpetual Help Catholic Church, 515 Loch Haven Road in Edgewater.
A Mass of Christian burial will follow at noon. Interment will be in St. Mary's Cemetery in Annapolis.

Evelyn Sullivan
Evelyn Marie Sullivan, 80, a resident of Annapolis for 11 years and previously of Beltsville for 30 years, died of pulmonary fibrosis and innersticial lung disease March 16 at Anne Arundel Medical Center after a six-month illness.
Mrs. Sullivan was born Sept. 23, 1927, in Washington, D.C., and graduated from McKinley Tech High School in 1945.
She worked as a pharmacist assistant at Chandler Drugs in Landover Hills in the 1950s, then for KayCee Drugs in the 1970s. She was an administrative research employee for seven years at Arbitron Research in Beltsville, and she worked in an administrative position with Usher contracts for the Washington Redskins in the 1980s.
Most importantly to her, she was a mother.
She was preceded in death by her husband of over 40 years, Jeremiah J. Sullivan; and one brother, William H. Hall Jr.
Survivors include two sons, Joseph W. and Daniel J. Sullivan of Annapolis; one daughter, Mary T. Sullivan Berry of Chesapeake Beach; and two grandchildren.
Funeral services and interment are private; arrangements are by Kalas Funeral Home.

Ben Sutherland
Ben Sutherland, 58, a resident of Annapolis for 32 years and previously of England, died of leukemia March 18 at John Hopkins Hospital after a week-long illness.
Mr. Sutherland was born May 3, 1949, in England to Margaret Sutherland of Alwick, England, and the late Ivan Sutherland, and he earned a bachelor's degree from Essex University.
He worked for Cellular Center in Annapolis from 1984 to 2003, then at E2 Home and Solar in Annapolis from 2005 to the present.
He sailed across the Atlantic Ocean and was a commercial helicopter pilot and an airplane pilot.
He was also a member of Annapolis Yacht Club and the Naval Academy Golf Club.
He enjoyed sailing, golfing and flying.
Survivors include his wife of 21 years, Bonna Sutherland; one daughter, Lesley Sutherland of Annapolis; two stepsons, Eric and Jeff Howell of Annapolis; two brothers, Owen Sutherland of Spain and William Sutherland of Ireland; and four grandchildren.
A memorial gathering will be held from 2 to 4 p.m. today at the Annapolis Yacht Club. Arrangements are by Taylor Funeral Home.

Genevieve Welle
Genevieve Dolores Watkowski Welle, 85, of Severna Park since 1983 and previously of Arbutus, died March 19 at Genesis Eldercare in Severna Park.
Mrs. Welle was born March 12, 1923, in Baltimore. She graduated from The Institute of Notre Dame, Notre Dame College in Baltimore and Catonsville Community College.
She was a homemaker for many years, and was a nurse at Jenkins Memorial Nursing Home.
Mrs. Welle was a member of The Franciscan Society and St. John the Evangelist Church in Severna Park, where she was very active and attended daily mass, rosary and novena.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Enok Conrad Welle, in 1989.
Survivors include four sons, Conrad Gene Welle of Cambridge, Lawrence Adam Welle of Catonsville, Gerard Noel Welle of New Windsor and Stanley Joseph Welle of Severna Park; two daughters, Bernadine Frances Geary and Michelle Marie Countiss, both of Severna Park; one brother, Milton Watkowski of Severna Park; two sisters, Sister Frances Watkowski of Towson and Theresa Curillo-Smith of Severna Park; 14 grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.
Family and friends may visit from 2 to 4 p.m. and 6 to 8 p.m. Monday at Barranco and Sons Severna Park Funeral Home, 495 Ritchie Highway, and at 9:30 a.m. Tuesday at St. John the Evangelist Roman Catholic Church, 689 Ritchie Highway in Severna Park.
A Mass of Christian burial will follow at 10:30 a.m. Interment will be in Holy Rosary Cemetery in Dundalk.
