Bomb threat

A Meade High School student was charged yesterday with lying to police and disturbing school activities, after police discovered his phone was used to call in a false bomb threat, county police said.

Meade High School, Meade Middle School and Macarthur Middle School were put on exterior lockdown in the morning after police received a call reporting a bomb threat at the high school, county police said.

Exterior lockdown means students are kept inside the building, said schools spokesman Bob Mosier.

The caller, who said he was a student at the high school, said he saw explosives in the bag and the bomber was walking outside the school toward Route 175. About 27 county police, including two K9 units and eight detectives searched the area, county police said.

Police charged the 16-year-old male student with willfully disturbing school activities and making false statements. He was later released to his mother. The three schools resumed normal activities at about 1:30 p.m., county police said.

Bar fight

A Severn woman was arrested Saturday after allegedly hitting another woman on the head with a beer bottle during a fight over a bathroom stall, city police said.

At just before midnight, police were called to Dock Street Bar for the report of an assault. When officers arrived the 29-year-old victim from Glen Burnie had a head injury.

Witnesses told police that the women argued about the use of the bathroom. The victim had slapped or punched the other woman in the face, then walked out into the bar area. The other woman followed and hit the victim from behind with a beer bottle, police said.

Stacy Rae Sutton, 35, was charged with first- and second-degree assault, police said.

Pasta to go

A Clay Street man was arrested Thursday after a witness allegedly saw him take lasagna and sausage off a delivery truck behind Acme Bar and Grill, which is located on Main Street, city police said.

At about 12:30 p.m. police were called to the area by the delivery person who told them she saw a man take boxes out of the delivery truck and run up an alley. Police found him, and the witness confirmed he was the one she saw, police said.

Robert Dears, 60, was charged with theft under $500, police said.

The food, valued at $328.40, was returned.

Beer stolen

Someone stole two cases of beer Wednesday from Parole Liquors at 2125 Forest Drive, city police said.

An employee told police that at just before 9 p.m., a man walked into the store, picked up two cases of Miller Genuine Draft, and left without paying.

The employee tried to stop the man but he did not stop, police said.

The beer was valued at $42.38.

Armed robbery

A convenience store clerk was robbed by a man with a knife Sunday afternoon in Glen Burnie, county police said.

At just before 1:30 p.m., the robber walked into the Royal Farms store at 7201 Baltimore Annapolis Blvd. and demanded money. When the store clerk refused, the man pulled out a small knife and demanded cash again, police said.

After the clerk opened the register, the robber grabbed an unknown amount of money and ran out of the store.

He was last seen running through the parking lot toward Wellham Avenue.

Police searched the area, but could not find the man. He is described as white, about 6 feet tall, with a thin build, and red hair shaped into a crew cut.

Man stabbed, robbed

A man was stabbed in the arm and robbed while standing outside a Glen Burnie apartment complex Sunday night, county police said.

The man was standing outside an apartment building in the 8000 block of Green Orchard Drive about 10 p.m. when four masked men armed with knives walked up to him. The men stabbed the man in the arm and knocked him to the ground, causing a cut on his head, police said. The robbers grabbed the man's cell phone and cash before running away.

Police got a call from Baltimore Washington Medical Center to investigate the man's injuries about 12:50 a.m. Monday. At the hospital, they learned about the robbery that had occurred earlier.
