Maddalena DiPompo
Maddalena DiPompo, 87, a 13-year resident of West River and previously of Washington, D.C., died May 18 in her home after a brief illness.
Mrs. DiPompo was born Aug. 5, 1920, in Orsogna, Italy, to the late Antonio and Maria Tenaglia. She was educated in Italy, and in 1950 moved to Argentina to join her husband. They settled in Washington, D.C., in 1952.
Originally a lamp and shade designer, she later worked for the former Woodward and Lothrop department store in Washington as a seamstress specializing in furs. She retired in 1987 after 35 years of service.
She was a member of Holy Family Catholic Church in Davidsonville and Holy Rosary Catholic Church in Washington, D.C.
She loved her kitchen, cooking, and over-feeding people. She used her sewing skills to help everyone she knew. Most of all, she loved her family and every opportunity to spend time with them, and to pray the rosary.
She was preceded in death by her husband of over 60 years, Joseph DiPompo; and one son, Luke DiPompo.
Survivors include one son, Alberto DiPompo of West River; one sister, Nicoletta D'Angelo of Temple Hills; four grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; and three great-great-grandchildren.
Friends and family may join in the celebration of her life from 1 to 3 and 6 to 8 p.m. tomorrow at Kalas Funeral Home, 2973 Solomons Island Road in Edgewater.
A Mass of Christian burial will be offered at 9:30 a.m. Friday at Holy Family Catholic Church, 826 W. Central Ave. in Davidsonville. Interment will be in Resurrection Cemetery in Clinton.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Hospice of the Chesapeake, 445 Defense Highway, Annapolis, MD 21401.

Louis Esposito
Louis Francis Esposito, 56, of Crofton died suddenly May 16 in his home.
Mr. Esposito was born Jan. 17, 1952, in New York to John J. Esposito of Florida and Gladys E. Esposito of Long Island, N.Y.
He worked in automotive sales for 12 years, then founded Rockwell Communications, which he owned and managed for 20 years.
He served in the Air Force for three years.
Mr. Esposito participated in a national roller skating championship in 1969, and enjoyed snowboarding and boating on the bay. He had a passion for travel, the outdoors and competitive sports and enjoyed an active life.
Survivors include his wife of 31 years, Kathleen Y. Esposito; one son, Michael A. Esposito of Crofton; one daughter, Jeannette C. Esposito of Crofton; three brothers, William and John Esposito of Long Island and Robert Esposito of Fort Myers, Fla.; and two sisters, Lu-Ellen McGuire of St. Augustine, Fla., and Camie Diamond of West Palm Beach, Fla.
Family and friends may visit at 10 a.m. Saturday at Evans Funeral Home, 16000 Annapolis Road in Bowie.
A memorial Mass will be offered at 11:30 Saturday at the funeral home.

Arthur Fast
Arthur Charles "Artie" Fast, 84, a resident of Bowie since 2002, died of complications from cancer May 14 at the Mandrin House in Harwood after an illness lasting for 13 years.
Mr. Fast was born Feb. 23, 1924, in Queens, N.Y., where he attended high school.
He served in the Marine Corps in the Pacific during World War II, mainly on Bougainville in the British Soloman Islands.
He served 31 years as a New York City police officer.
He attended Faith Community Church in Gambrills.
While living at Mandrin House, he enjoyed friendships with hospice volunteers and enjoyed "supervising" kitchen operations.
Survivors include his wife of 45 years, Edith Fast; two sons, Steven Fast of Bloomfield, N.J., and Don Fast of Bowie; one daughter, Heidi Brown of Montgomery, N.Y.; and four grandchildren.
A memorial service was held May 17 at Faith Community Church. Interment was in Crownsville Veterans Cemetery. Arrangements were by Beall Funeral Home.

George Jackson
George L. Jackson, 65, of Florida and formerly of Edgewater, died of heart failure May 18 at Bert Fish Hospital in New Smyrna, Fla.
Mr. Jackson was born Dec. 27, 1942, in Baltimore to Mary Jackson of Edgewater.
He retired from service with the federal government.
He enjoyed gardening and his dogs.
Survivors include his wife, Donna R. Jackson; one son, Vince Jackson of San Diego; one daughter, Vicki Greeninger of Jacksonville, Fla.; two stepsons, Mark and Chris Koester; one stepdaughter, Heidi Thomas; two brothers, Tommy and Robert Jackson of Friendship; one sister, Linda Lonergan of Annapolis; and eight grandchildren.
A memorial service will be held at 2 p.m. tomorrow at Dudley Funeral Home, 433 N. Ridgewood Ave. in Edgewater.
Arthur Jimenez
Arthur Francis Jimenez, 87, a resident of Annapolis for over 55 years, died of heart failure May 17 at Woodward Estate Assisted Living in Bowie after a four-year illness.
Mr. Jimenez was born Sept. 10, 1920, in Sanford, Fla., to the late Horace and Julia Jimenez.
He was a retired truck mechanic.
He served as a corporal in the Marine Corps during World War II, from 1942 to 1945. He participated in the invasions of Bougainville, Guam and the Marianas Islands.
He was a former member of American Legion Post 7 and Moose Lodge 296. Mr. Jimenez loved working in his garden and spending time with family.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Nancy S. Jimenez, who died in 1998; one son, Donald Jimenez; and one grandson.
Survivors include two daughters, Mary Frances Coyle of Newburgh, N.Y., and Pamela S. Baker of Annapolis; two grandchildren; and three great-granddaughters.

David Johnson Sr.
David E. Johnson Sr., 72, of Pasadena and previously of Gambrills for 30 years, died of heart failure May 17 at Johns Hopkins Hospital in Baltimore.
Mr. Johnson was born Aug. 5, 1935, in Salem, Mass., but spent most of his childhood in Syracuse, N.Y. He attended high school in Towson, and earned a degree in business administration from the University of Maryland, College Park.
He retired in 2000 after working 39 years for C.J. Langenfelder and Son Equipment Contractors. He was the equipment superintendent at the company's operation at Sparrows Point.
Mr. Johnson was an avid sports fan, especially of the Baltimore Colts in the 1960s and 1970s. He was also very interested in travel.
He was preceded in death by his first wife, Mary Lue Holt, who died in 1979.
Survivors include his wife of 24 years, Susan W. Johnson; one son, David E. Johnson Jr. of Sherwood Forest; one stepson, William Spencer of Hanson, Mass.; one stepdaughter, Lori Spencer of Glen Rock, Pa., and four grandchildren.
A memorial service will be held at noon Saturday at Baldwin Memorial United Methodist Church, 921 Generals Highway in Millersville. Arrangements are by McNabb Funeral Home.
James MacLaughlin
James A. "Gus" MacLaughlin, 56, of Crofton died of lung cancer May 18 in his home.
Mr. MacLaughlin was born Dec. 11, 1951, in Havre de Grace. He graduated from the University of Maryland in 1974, and during the 1970's he played banjo for the bluegrass band, Hillcrest Mountain Boys.
He moved to Crofton over 10 years ago and continued his technical career in the heating and air conditioning business at Lyon, Conklin, and Co., Inc. as a technical field service representative.
Mr. MacLaughlin was a lifetime member of the National Rifle Association and the St. Charles Sportsman Club.
He enjoyed playing "old time" fiddle music, making musical stringed instruments and jewelry, photography, cooking, woodworking, collecting rocks, deer hunting and spending time with his family and friends.
Survivors include his wife of 30 years, Mary "Mimi" MacLaughlin; one daughter, Jamie Grace MacLaughlin of Crofton; and one brother, Tom MacLaughlin of Indian Head.
Family and friends may visit from 5 to 8 p.m. today at Evans Funeral Home, 16000 Annapolis Road in Bowie.
Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. tomorrow at the funeral home. Interment will follow at Lakemont Memorial Gardens.

Karen Peters
Karen Michelle Peters, 18, a resident of Stevensville for a few months and previously of Orange County, Calif., died of injuries sustained in a car accident May 18.
Ms. Peters was born Dec. 7, 1989, in Anaheim, Calif. She was a senior in high school and had recently been accepted to a local fashion design and art school.
Survivors includes her seven siblings.
Funeral arrangements are by Hilgenfeld Mortuary in California. Interment will be in Anaheim Cemetery.
Robert Tucker
Robert L. "Bob" Tucker, 67, of Venice, Fla., and formerly of Severna Park, died May 16 at the Hospice House in Venice.
Mr. Tucker was born Feb. 6, 1941, in Hawaii.
He retired as security manager from Northrup Grumman in Baltimore after 36 years of service.
He was a member of the Maryland Chiefs of Police, Maryland Law Enforcement Officers, Elks Lodge, Local Order of Moose and the American Society for Industrial Security. He was a Methodist.
Survivors include his wife, Sherry Tucker; two daughters, Belinda York of Pasadena and Tammy Kusyk of Baltimore; one brother, Karl Tucker of Severna Park; one sister, Nancy Cross of New Mexico; and four grandchildren.
Family and close friends may join in the celebration of his life at 2 p.m. June 5 at The Rose Restaurant in Linthicum.
