A 7-year-old girl from Silver Spring was hurt yesterday when she inadvertently grabbed the throttle of the personal watercraft she was boarding on the South River and it lurched into a dock, according to a report by Natural Resources Police.
A 38-year-old man who was boarding the craft with her was thrown off the back when it lurched forward.
The girl suffered facial injuries and bruising and was flown to the Johns Hopkins Children's Center in Baltimore as a precaution.
The incident happened about 6:30 p.m. near Beards Point, which is across the river from Quiet Waters Park.
Police did not release their names.
