Friday's obituaries recognize: Eric Bond, William Dodson, Ann Hagan, Hilda Kalb and Alfred Parks

Eric Bond 

Eric J. Bond, 22, a 10-year resident of Edgewater, died of injuries sustained in an automobile accident July 15 at Prince George's Hospital in Cheverly. A full story ran in Wednesday's edition of The Capital.

Mr. Bond was born March 30, 1986, in Cheverly. He graduated from Kent Island High School and worked most of his life in construction.

He enjoyed music and golf.

Survivors include his parents, Stacy L. Bond of Gaithersburg and Karen L. Rogers of Stevensville; his stepfather, Nelson A. Rogers of Stevensville; one brother, Cody Bond of Stevensville; one stepsister, Lauren Rogers of Frederick; and his grandparents, Vincy Sparks of Waldorf and Marguerite Rogers of Stevensville.

A celebration of his life will be held from 2 to 4 p.m. Sunday at Kalas Funeral Home, 2973 Solomons Island Road in Edgewater.

Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Monday at the funeral home. Interment will be in Resurrection Cemetery.

William Dodson

A survivor was omitted in the obituary submission for William Thomas Dodson, 94, of Easton, in yesterday's edition of The Capital.

Survivors include his daughter, Barbara Antonio of Easton.

Ann Hagan

Ann Elizabeth Hagan, 64, of Annapolis died of leukemia July 13 at the Tate Hospice House in Linthicum after battling cancer for eight years.

Ms. Hagan was born Feb. 17, 1944, in Providence, R.I. She graduated from Saint Mary's College in 1966 and Suffolk Law School in 1975.

She worked for the Girl Scouts in the Detroit area, then returned to the Boston area to work with a consulting firm in civil rights and diversity issues.

In 1976, she joined Booz Allen Hamilton's Washington, D.C., office, and in 1985 she co-founded the consulting firm of Cavanaugh, Hagan and Pierson, Inc., in Washington, D.C. Her practice provided management counsel to corporations and nonprofit organizations.

Ms. Hagan was active in Suffolk Law alumni activities and developed her artistic interests in photography.

She enjoyed her management consulting, executive coaching and world travels in connection with her passion for photography. She visited Japan, China, Thailand, New Zealand, Turkey, Italy and places around the United States.

Survivors include her husband of two years, Allen Durling; and two sisters, Arline Saturday of Portland, Maine, and Kathleen Hagan of Watertown, Mass.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Sidney Kimmel Cancer Center, attention Dr. Steven Gore Research, 1 Charles Center, 100 North Charles St., Suite 234, Baltimore, MD 21201.

Arrangements are by Doherty and Sons Funeral Home in Wellesley, Mass.

Hilda Kalb

Hilda L. Kalb, 87, a lifelong resident of Millersville, died July 16 at Baltimore Washington Medical Center.

Mrs. Kalb was born March 3, 1921, in Baltimore.

A homemaker, she enjoyed cooking.

Survivors include her husband over 60 years, Bernard G. Kalb Sr.; one son, Bernard G. Kalb Jr. of Dunkirk; two daughters, Karen Denton of Denton, N.C., and Sandra Kalb of Millersville; five grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren.

Funeral services and interment are private. Arrangements are by Stallings Funeral Home.

Alfred Parks

Alfred Perrie Parks, 87, an 11-year resident of Myrtle Beach, S.C., and previously of Annapolis, died of lung cancer July 16 at the Grand Strand Healthcare Center in Myrtle Beach.

Mr. Parks was born Aug. 29, 1920, in Tracys Landing to the late George Conley and Margaret Paddy Parks. He attended Southern High School.

He served in the Navy Seabees during World War II.

He owned Wheeler and Parks Masonry in Annapolis from 1951 to 1974.

He was a longtime member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars and the American Legion.

He was preceded in death by his first wife, Mary E. Parks, who died in 1989.

Survivors include his second wife, Dorothy E. Parks, whom he married in 1989; one son, Harry Parks of Palm Bay, Fla.; one daughter, Rochelle Keen of Edgewater; one stepson, Paul Murray of Myrtle Beach; one brother, William Parks of Prince Frederick; eight grandchildren; 20 great grandchildren; and three great-great grandchildren.

Family and friends may visit from 7 to 9 p.m. today at Goldfinch Funeral Home in Murrell's Inlet, S.C., and from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Sunday at Kalas Funeral Home, 2973 Solomons Island Road in Edgewater.

A funeral Mass will be offered at 1 p.m. Monday at St. James Parish, 5757 Solomons Island Road in Lothian. Interment will follow in the church cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society, 1041 Route 3 N., Building A, Gambrills, MD 21054.
