John Edgar "Johnny" Davis, 71, a 35-year resident of Davidsonville, died of cancer July 20 at his home after a four-year illness.
Mr. Davis was born May 1, 1937, in Washington, D.C., to the late Violet and John E. Davis Sr. He graduated from Oxon Hill High School.
He worked as a warehouse supervisor for the Frank Parsons Paper Co. for over 40 years.
He was a member of Mount Oak United Methodist Church in Mitchellville.
He loved NASCAR racing, especially the late Dale Earnhardt Sr., and enjoyed yard work.
He was preceded in death by one son, Jeffrey Alan Davis, who died in 2002.
Survivors include his wife of 48 years, Dorothy C. Davis; one son, Kenneth W. Davis of Davidsonville; one daughter, Karen L. Edwards of Davidsonville; one sister, Shirley Schellin of Chesapeake Beach; and seven grandchildren.
A celebration of his life will be held at 5 p.m. tomorrow at Kalas Funeral Home, 2973 Solomons Island Road in Edgewater. A memorial service will follow at 7 p.m. Interment will be in Lakemont Memorial Gardens at a later date.

Robert Haygood
Incorrect information was published in the obituary for Robert H. Haygood, 82, of Annapolis in Thursday's edition of The Capital.
Mr. Haygood was born in Macon, Ga.
Natallee Nickulas
Natallee N. Nickulas, 33, a resident of Crofton for four years and previously of Annapolis, died of cancer July 19 at the Tate Hospice House in Linthicum after a four-year illness.
She was born Dec. 9, 1974, in Sudbury, Ontario, Canada.
She worked for Insure Plus Insurance for eight years.
Survivors include her husband, Steven Robey; one son, Mason Robey; one daughter, Kaitlyn Robey; and one sister, Renee Stevenson of Jacksonville, Fla.
A memorial gathering will be held from 3 to 5 p.m. Saturday at Beall Funeral Home, 6512 N.W. Crain Highway in Bowie. Interment will be private.

Carroll Patten
Carroll J. Patten, 72, of Ridgely in Caroline County for five years and previously a resident of Severna Park for over 60 years, died of complications from cancer July 20 at Memorial Hospital in Easton.
Mr. Patten was born Dec. 10, 1935, in Baltimore to the late William and Delores Patten.
He worked as a job superintendent for Martin G. Imbach Marine Construction Co.
Mr. Patten served in the Army during the Korean War.
He was a member of the National Rifle Association and Ducks Unlimited, and enjoyed hunting and fishing.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Janet Mae Patten.
Survivors include one son, Mark B. Patten of Ridgely; one daughter, Lisa C. Schell of Pasadena; two sisters, Linda Wiseman of Cordova and Judith Walters of Ellicott City; one brother, John B. Hewitt of Ridgely; seven grandchildren; and one great-grandchild.
Family and friends may visit from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. today at Barranco and Sons Severna Park Funeral Home, 495 Ritchie Highway.
A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday at the funeral home. Interment will be in Lakemont Memorial Gardens in Davidsonville.

Diane Sprague
Diane Taylor Sprague, 62, of Vero Beach, Fla., and previously of Riva, died July 18 at Shands Hospital in Gainesville, Fla.
Mrs. Sprague was born June 20, 1946, in Providence, R.I., graduated from Hope High School in 1964, earned a bachelor's degree in English education from the University of Rhode Island in 1968 and a master's degree from Johns Hopkins University in 1975.
She lived in Germany between 1969 and 1971, and in Crofton until 1979. She lived in Riva until she retired in 2002.
She worked for over 30 years in education, working as a classroom teacher, English department head and resource teacher at Glen Burnie High School and at the Board of Education for the Anne Arundel County Public School System. She retired in 2002 as the coordinator for Gifted and Talented Programs for county schools.
She was an avid golfer and was active in the American Association of University Women. She was a member of Chi Omega sorority.
Survivors include her husband of 40 years, Kenneth Sprague; one son, Jeffery Sprague of Annapolis; and one sister, Martha Heroux of North Smithfield, R.I.
Mrs. Sprague's ashes will be spread at sea off the coast of Rhode Island. A private ceremony will be held by the family at a later date. Arrangements are by Lowther Funeral Home and Crematory.

Norman Stead
Norman Albert Stead, 77, of Annapolis died July 20 at Anne Arundel Medical Center.
Mr. Stead was born June 27, 1931, in Brooklyn, N.Y., to the late Albert and Amanda Stead.
He served in the Army in the Korean War as a medic.
He began his career working on sensitive projects for the National Security Agency. After five years, he took a position with the electronic division of the American Telephone & Telegraph Corp.
He managed the physics lab at the Naval Academy for 30 years, until he retired in 2000.
He was a founding member of Gloria Dei! Lutheran Church in Arnold, where he served on the church council and sang in the Chancel Choir for many years.
He was known for his generosity and sense of humor, his family said. He was an avid handball and racquetball player.
He ran two JFK ultra marathons, 50 miles each, and enjoyed flying his own plane and cooking for family and friends. He also enjoyed traveling with his wife, including trips to China, Australia, Europe and Newfoundland, and was a passionate reader.
Survivors include his wife of 46 years, Ingrid Stead; one son, Christopher A. Stead of Pasadena; one daughter, Karen A. Nelson of Crownsville; one brother, Herbert Stead of New York; and two sisters, Alice Le Sueur of New York and Isabelle Mourot of Louisiana; two grandchildren; and one great-grandson.
A private family service will be held today, and a memorial service for family and friends will be held at 10 a.m. tomorrow at Gloria Dei! Lutheran Church, 461 College Parkway in Arnold. Arrangements are by Barranco and Sons Severna Park Funeral Home.

Leopoldo Vista
Retired Navy Chief Petty Officer Leopoldo B. "Pol" Vista, 85, of Annapolis for 39 years and Palm Bay, Fla., died of natural causes July 19 in his home.
Chief Vista was born April 28, 1923, in Cavite City, Philippines, and lived in the Philippines and Japan before moving to Maryland.
He served in the Navy for 26 years. After his retirement, we worked as a chef for Maryland governors.
He was a member of Iglesia ni Christo.
He enjoyed cooking, fishing and crabbing, gardening, bowling and watching sports.
He was preceded in death by one brother, Lobing Vista.
Survivors include his wife of 54 years, Bennie Vista; one son, Roger Vista of Palm Bay; two daughters, Leonida Vista of Gaithersburg and Grace Vista of Stevensville; one sister, Esther Ramirez of San Diego, Calif.; and five grandchildren.
Family and friends may visit from 2 to 4 p.m. tomorrow at Taylor Funeral Home, 147 Duke of Gloucester St. Funeral services will follow at 4 p.m. Interment will be private.

Lynda Wilson
Lynda Michele Wilson, 39, a resident of Edgewater for six years and previously of Davidsonville for three years, died of cancer July 20 in her home after a five-year illness.
Mrs. Wilson was born Oct. 7, 1968, in Brooklyn, N.Y., to Antoine and Gladys Kanakry of Burke, Va. She earned a bachelor's degree in psychology from George Mason University.
She worked as an office administrator for Residential Appraisal Service in Edgewater.
Mrs. Wilson was a parishioner of Our Lady Of Perpetual Help Catholic Church in Edgewater.
She enjoyed spending time with her family, shopping and playing the piano.
She was preceded in death by her grandparents, Joseph Kanakry and Anthony and Josephine Ashroawe.
Survivors include her husband of almost 14 years, Kenneth Wilson; one son, Daniel Wilson; one daughter, Abigail Wilson; one brother, Anthony Kanakry of Columbia; one sister, Barbara Kanakry of Burke; and her grandmother, Lynda Kanakry of Hollywood, Fla.
A celebration of her life will be held from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. tomorrow at Kalas Funeral Home, 2973 Solomons Island Road in Edgewater. Trisaghion prayers will be said at 8 p.m.
A funeral Mass will be offered at 10 a.m. Thursday at Our Lady of Perpetual Help Catholic Church, 515 Loch Haven Road in Edgewater. Interment will be in Lakemont Memorial Gardens.
