Drug arrest
A Monument Street man was arrested Tuesday after officers pulled him over for a suspended license and found that he had drugs in his possession, city police said.
An officer spotted the man sitting behind the wheel of a 1998 Ford at about 10:30 a.m. The car was running and the officer had knowledge that the man's license was revoked, police said.
Officers arrested the man and during his arrest, they said they found he was carrying 6.9 grams of crack cocaine, police said.
Ondrel Mayo Jr., 19, was charged with the traffic violation and possession of drugs with the intent to distribute, police said.
Drug arrest
Police officers arrested a Newtowne Drive man Tuesday after they said they saw him involved in what apparently was a drug deal on Madison Street, city police said.
Officers said they saw a drug transaction take place just before 1 p.m. and approached the people involved. As they approached, one man ran away and officers caught him after a brief chase, police said.
Officers said he was carrying crack cocaine, police said.
Jeffrey Somerville, 26, was charged with drug possession with the intent to distribute, police said.
