Wednesday's obituaries recognize: Oscar Farias, Patricia Gauci, Clyde Gingrich, Paul Greenwell Jr., Isabel Harris, George Nalley and John Taylor Jr.

Oscar Farias

Oscar Albert Farias, 95, a resident of Bowie for 35 years, died of natural causes Aug. 9 in his home.

Mr. Farias was born Nov. 20, 1912, in Argentina and came to the United States in 1950.

After retiring from Saint Elizabeth's Hospital, he ran a private practice in Crofton for the past 34 years. He also worked with the University of Maryland School of Medicine and was the community teacher of the year in 2006.

He was a member of the American Academy of Family Physicians and was awarded the degree of fellow.

Survivors include five children; three sisters; 13 grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren.

A memorial service will be held at 9:45 a.m. Saturday at St. John Neumann Catholic Church, 620 Bestgate Road.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Prostate Cancer Foundation, 1250 Fourth St., Santa Monica, CA 90401.

Patricia Gauci

Patricia Nalini Gauci, 73, of Gambrills, died Aug. 17 at Baltimore Washington Medical Center.

Mrs. Gauci was born Sept. 29, 1934, in Georgetown, Guyana. She received a Diploma in Leadership from the Coady International Institute in Nova Scotia in 1970.

She worked for the Guyanese government as a district community development officer before moving to New York after her marriage, where she worked as an administrative secretary in the United Nations.

She served as secretary of the Program Advisory Committee for the Cooperative Extension Service for the University of Maryland; president of the Prince of Peace Presbyterian Women's Organization and the Four Seasons Women's Club; and editor of the Four Seasons Women's Club newsletter. She taught French and volunteered in the health room at Four Season's Elementary School.

She was dedicated to caring for her family and elderly father and her pets. She loved to volunteer and especially enjoyed organizing the Christmas baskets every year as a member of the Four Seasons Women's Club.

She was preceded in death by her husband, John Gauci Sr.; and one brother.

Survivors include one son, John Gauci Jr. of Odenton; one daughter, Michelle Soumah of Gambrills; one brother; six sisters; and six grandchildren.

A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday at Prince of Peace Presbyterian Church, 1657 Crofton Parkway in Crofton. A reception will follow in the fellowship hall.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to The Four Seasons Women's Club Christmas Basket Fund, P.O. Box 62, Gambrills, MD 21054.

Clyde Gingrich

Clyde Robert "Bob" Gingrich, 83, of Annapolis for two years and previously of Falls Church, Va., died of natural causes Aug. 4 at Atria Manresa.

Mr. Gingrich was born March 1, 1925, in Dodge City, Kan., and attended the University of Maryland.

He was an electrician and welder with IBEW Local 26.

He served in the Navy and received the Pacific and American Theatre Ribbons and the Victory Medal.

He was a member of the Masons in Falls Church and Annandale, Va.

He enjoyed electronics, sports, reading, music, playing the organ and saxophone and hunting.

Survivors include his wife of 44 years, Josephine Gingrich.

A memorial service will be held at 6:30 p.m. Friday at Atria Manresa, 85 Manresa Drive.

Paul Greenwell Jr.

Paul Louis Greenwell Jr., 37, a resident of Riva for 11 years, died suddenly Aug. 17 in his home.

Mr. Greenwell was born Oct. 1, 1970, in Cheverly to Paul L. Greenwell Sr. of North Beach and Sharon L. Cook of Rose Haven. He graduated from Northern High School in Owings in 1988 and earned a bachelor's degree in finance from Frostburg University in 1992.

He was a computer product sales manager for the Frank Parsons paper company in Landover.

He loved spending time with his son, playing golf, working out at the gym, riding his Harley Davidson motorcycle, watching sports and being with his family and friends.

Survivors include one son, Zachary Taylor Greenwell of Severna Park; his stepfather, Paul A. Gilman of Rose Haven; one sister, Tammy L. Marlowe of Huntingtown; and his girlfriend, Jennifer M. DeMent of Kent Island.

Family and friends may visit from 2 to 4 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m. tomorrow at Rausch Funeral Home, 8325 Mt. Harmony Lane in Owings. Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Friday at the funeral home. Interment will be in Southern Memorial Gardens in Dunkirk.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Zachary T. Greenwell Contribution Fund at any Bank of America.

Isabel Harris

Isabel Peake Harris, 85, of Annapolis, died in her sleep Aug. 15 at Sunrise Assisted Living.

Mrs. Harris was born Sept. 23, 1922, in Washington, D.C.

Survivors include her granddaughter, Heather Lynne Sherbert of Columbia; one brother, Fred Peake; and one sister, Laverne Weeks.

Family and friends may visit from 2 to 4 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m. today at Evans Funeral Home, 16000 Annapolis Road in Bowie. Funeral services will be held at 11:30 a.m. tomorrow at Bethel United Methodist Church, 16101 Swanson Road in Upper Marlboro.

Graveside services will follow at 1 p.m. at Cheltenham Veteran's Cemetery.

George Nalley

George "Ray" Nalley, 80, of Lothian, died Aug. 16 in his home after a lengthy illness.

Mr. Nalley was born Sept. 17, 1927, in Capitol Heights.

Survivors include his wife, Rose Marie Nalley; one son, Raymond A. Nalley; one daughter, Donna M. Sonnenberg; and two grandchildren.

Family and friends may visit from 2 to 4 p.m. and 6 to 9 p.m. today and tomorrow at Lee Funeral Home Calvert, 8125 Southern Maryland Blvd. in Owings.

A Mass of Christian burial will be offered at 10 a.m. Friday at St. Mary's of the Assumption Catholic Church, 14908 Main St. in Upper Marlboro. Interment will be in Ft. Lincoln Cemetery in Brentwood.

Memorial contributions may be made to Hospice of the Chesapeake, 445 Defense Highway, Annapolis, MD 21401.

John Taylor Jr.

John "Johnny" A. Taylor Jr., 30, a lifelong resident of Davidsonville, died of cardiac arrest Aug. 17 at Anne Arundel Medical Center.

Mr. Taylor was born Oct. 19, 1977, in Annapolis to John and Faith Taylor of Davidsonville. He graduated from South River High School. He worked as an electrician most of his life.

He enjoyed his movies, spending time with his daughter and having fun with his family and friends.

He was preceded in death by his grandparents, Frances and Thomas Taylor and Robert Walton.

Survivors include one daughter, Destiny Taylor of Davidsonville; one brother, Robert Taylor of Davidsonville; one sister, Kristal Taylor of Davidsonville; and his grandmother, Ethel E. Walton of Pennsylvania.

A celebration of his life will be held from 2 to 4 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m. tomorrow at Kalas Funeral Home, 2973 Solomons Island Road in Edgewater.

Funeral services will be held at 9 a.m. Friday at the funeral home. Interment will be in Lakemont Memorial Gardens.

Michael Clutz Sr. 

Incorrect information was published in the obituary for Michael David Clutz Sr., 53, of Severna Park in Monday's edition of The Capital.

Survivors include his mother, Geraldine Snyder Clutz.
