BALTIMORE (AP) — Tropical Storm Hanna is leading to some restrictions at Maryland state parks.
Elk Neck State Forest in Cecil County will be closed as a precaution. Department of Natural Resources spokeswoman Kara Turner says some of the roads in the forest are not safe during extreme weather, and the forest has Virginia pines that are susceptible to blowing over during high winds.
In addition, all state parks on the Eastern Shore have stopped taking new camping, full service and camper cabin reservations until Sunday. Existing reservations will be honored, but DNR is urging campers to contact the parks before arriving to check on weather conditions.
Hanna is expected to blow through Maryland Saturday, bringing heavy rain and 50-mile-per-hour winds.
