Richard Stanley Aldrich, 82, an 11-year resident of Edgewater and previously of Potomac, died of natural causes Sept. 18 at his home after a five-year illness.

Born Feb. 9, 1926, in Sandusky, Ohio, to the late Florence and Byron Aldrich, Mr. Aldrich received a master's degree from Miami University of Ohio.

He worked as an account executive for a nonprofit organization in educational fundraising.

During World War II, he served in the Navy as a sonarman, 2nd class.

Mr. Aldrich was a member of Unitarian Universalist Church of Annapolis. He enjoyed fishing, gardening and music.

He is survived by his wife, Kathryn B. Aldrich; two sons, John Aldrich of Mesa, Ariz., and James Aldrich of Olney; two daughters, Amy McCarthy of Edgewater and Anne Savage of Odenton; one brother, John S. Aldrich of Sandusky, Ohio; one sister, Helen Aldrich of Sandusky; eight grandchildren; and one great-grandchild.

A memorial service will be held at 1:30 p.m. tomorrow at Unitarian Universalist Church of Annapolis, 333 DuBois Road.

Interment will be private.

Joseph H. Cahill Jr.

Joseph H. Cahill Jr., 80, of Annapolis died Sept. 15 in his home after a brief illness.

Mr. Cahill was born Sept. 14, 1928, in Washington, D.C., to the late Joseph H. Cahill Sr. and Elizabeth Stock.

He was self-employed as a writer and artist and a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church in Annapolis.

His hobbies included photography, writing, walking and spending time with his family.

Mr. Cahill was preceded in death by one brother, Jack Cahill; and one sister, Mary Fran Loulan.

Survivors include three sons, Kevin Cahill of Texas, Sean Cahill of Bethesda and Brendan Cahill of Lusby; three daughters, Mary Jean Kindrat of Glen Burnie, Christine Bower of Delaware and Donna Donovan of Thurmont; three grandchildren; and one great-grandchild.

A funeral Mass will be offered at 10 a.m. today at Holy Trinity Catholic Church, 7436 Baltimore and Annapolis Blvd. in Glen Burnie.

Interment will be private. Arrangements are by Singleton Funeral and Cremation Services.

Angela Carannante

Angela Carannante, 42, of Severna Park and formerly Lawrenceville, N.J., died Sept. 16 at Baltimore Washington Medical Center.

Mrs. Carannante was born Jan. 24, 1966, in Monte di Procida, Italy, to Salverina Coppola and Dominic Carannante.

Survivors include her husband, Vincenzo Lomoriello; two daughters, Celeste Lomoriello and Sara Lomoriello of Severna Park; one brother, Vincenzo Carannante of Italy; and one sister, Concetta Carannante of Severna Park.

Family and friends may visit from 2 to 4 p.m. and 6 to 8 p.m. tomorrow at Barranco and Sons Severna Park Funeral Home, 495 Ritchie Highway. A funeral Mass and interment will be held at a later date.

James King

James G. "Jimmy" King, 68, of Chesapeake Beach, died Sept. 18 at Georgetown University Hospital in Washington, D.C.

Mr. King was born Sept. 26, 1939, in Sunderland to the late Mary Theresa Lauer and Preston W. King Sr.

He worked as a farmer in his youth, and began his career in construction as a carpenter at age 16. He worked for Hopkins and Waysons Construction Company his entire career, retiring as a superintendent in 2004.

He enjoyed horse racing, gambling, slot machines and playing the lottery, growing vegetables and flowers, and walking on the boardwalk at North Beach.

He was preceded in death by one brother, Preston King Jr.; and one sister, Margaret Buckmaster.

Survivors include his former wife, Gloria A. Stallings King of Lothian; one son, J. Mark King of St. Leonard; two daughters, Marie Antoinette "Toni" King of Lothian and Rhonda Renee Chaney of Chesapeake Beach; one brother, William A. King of Huntingtown; two sisters, Edna Mae Gott of Prince Frederick and Pearl Salmon of Chesapeake Beach; and two grandchildren.

Family and friends may visit from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. tomorrow at Rausch Funeral Home, 8325 Mt. Harmony Lane in Owings. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Monday at the funeral home, and interment will follow at Southern Memorial Gardens in Dunkirk.

Joseph Morris

Joseph Paul Morris, 55, of Annapolis died of cancer Sept. 17 at Mandarin Hospice House in Harwood.

Dr. Morris was born May 10, 1953, in Kingston, Pa., and completed undergraduate and graduate programs at The University of Notre Dame; he earned a doctorate in biochemistry and biophysics.

He worked in the biotech drug development field at BioGen, Genetics Institute, Perceptive Biosystems and Virogen.

He founded the Annapolis coating company Smart Surfaces, LLC.

He served as a Commander in the Navy; his most recent assignment was working at the Pentagon for the Undersecretary of Defense for Nuclear Chemical and Biological Defense.

Survivors include his wife, Marybeth Manning Morris; two sons, Christopher and Michael Morris; one daughter, Alexandra Morris; one brother, Michael Morris; and eight sisters, Florence Hannigan and Alicia, Christine, Emma, Helen, Margaret and Mary Morris.

Family and friends may visit from 2 to 4 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m. tomorrow at Hardesty Funeral Home, 12 Ridgely Ave.

A funeral Mass will be offered at 9:30 a.m. Monday at St. John Neumann Catholic Church, 620 Bestgate Road.

Interment will be held at a later date at Arlington National Cemetery.
