Saturday's obituaries recognize: Sylvia Fisher, Lynette Holtzclaw, Helen Orme and Rosa Walker

Sylvia Fisher

Sylvia Belle Fisher, 91, of Edgewater for 15 years, died of natural causes Sept. 25 at Futurecare Chesapeake.

Mrs. Fisher was born Dec. 16, 1916, in Himrod, N.Y. She graduated from Penn Yan Academy in Penn Yan, N.Y.

She was a homemaker and produce farmer and owned an antique shop.

She was a member of the Londontown Peppers.

She enjoyed knitting, antiques, cooking, playing cards, crossword puzzles and making candy.

Survivors include one son, Larry Fisher of Arnold; and four grandchildren.

Family and friends may visit from 2 to 4 p.m. tomorrow at Barranco and Sons Severna Park Funeral Home, 495 Ritchie Highway. A funeral service will follow and interment will be private.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the American Heart Association, 4217 Park Place Court, Glen Allen, VA 23060 or to Anne Arundel Habitat for Humanity, 273 Peninsula Farm Road Arnold, MD 21012.

Lynette Holtzclaw

Lynette Renee Adams Holtzclaw, 38, of Annapolis died Sept. 24 at Anne Arundel Medical Center after a long illness.

Mrs. Holtzclaw was born Dec. 17, 1969, in Wheaton to Delphyne Adams Brown and the late Clay Adams. She graduated from Rockville High School and earned a bachelor's degree from Old Dominion University.

She loved to laugh, read and reminisce with family and friends. She was known for her love and compassion and quick wit, her family said.

Survivors include her husband, John Henry Holtzclaw; two sons, Justin Michael and Bryan Christopher Holtzclaw; one daughter, Kailah Mackenzie Holtzclaw; and one sister, Kimberley Shareese Adams of Montgomery County.

Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. Monday at the Naval Academy Chapel; interment will be private in the Maryland Veterans Cemetery in Crownsville. Arrangements are by Reese and Sons Mortuary.

Memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society, 1041 Route 3 N., Building 1A, Gambrills, MD 21054.

Helen Orme

Helen Adams Orme, 83, of Edgewater for 48 years and formerly of Bethesda, died Sept. 25 at her home following a lengthy illness.

Mrs. Orme was born Jan. 30, 1925, in Washington, D.C.

She and her husband owned and operated Blue Water Marina in Edgewater.

Mrs. Orme was a member of Our Lady of Perpetual Help Catholic Church in Edgewater and the Daughters of the American Revolution.

Known as "dog-lady," she raised German Shepherds and enjoyed gardening, sailing, archeology and sports.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Robert C. Orme.

Survivors include three sons, Robert W. Orme of Preston, Charles H. Orme of Friendship and John A. Orme of Mayo; and four grandchildren.

A celebration of her life will be held from 5:30 to 8:30 p.m. Monday at Kalas Funeral Home, 2973 Solomons Island Road in Edgewater.

A Mass of Christian burial will be offered at 11:30 a.m. Tuesday at Our Lady of Perpetual Help Catholic Church, 515 Loch Haven Road in Edgewater. Interment will be at Lakemont Memorial Gardens.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Hospice of the Chesapeake, 445 Defense Highway, Annapolis, MD 21401.

Rosa Walker

Rosa Belle Walker, 85, of Annapolis for 37 years, died Sept. 26 in her home after a brief illness.

Mrs. Walker was born May 7, 1923, in Dante, Va., to the late James and Mary Fowler.

A homemaker, she dedicated herself to her family.

She enjoyed playing Bingo, traveling and spending time with her family and friends.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Army Sgt. Charles E. Walker.

Survivors include two sons, Larry Edward and James Allen Walker of Annapolis; three daughters, Myra Joy Jody Heineman and Rosa Maria Fuller of Riva, and Sharon Lane Altizer of Annapolis; 10 grandchildren; and 15 great-grandchildren.

Family and friends may visit from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. tomorrow at Hardesty Funeral Home, 12 Ridgely Ave.

Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Monday at Parkwood United Methodist Church, 35 Mayo Road in Edgewater. Interment will be in Lakemont Memorial Gardens.
