Two men walked out on a tab Thursday at Middleton's Taven at 2 Market Space, city police said.

The waitress told police the men were sitting at an outside table at about 8:40 p.m. When they were almost finished with their meal, they told the waitress they were moving tables. She later discovered that they had left the restaurant altogether without paying their bill.

The total loss was $82, police said.

Drug arrest

Officers arrested a city man Thursday who was wanted on a warrant for drug possession, city police said.

Officers on routine patrol spotted the man going into a gas station convenience store at 2006 West St. at about 5:30 p.m. Officers went into the store and confronted the man, then handcuffed him and took him outside, police said.

During a search, police said they found a handgun, 1.2 grams of crack cocaine and 1.5 grams of marijuana, according to reports.

Isiah Q. Crowner, 18, of Pindell Avenue, was charged with drug possession with intent to distribute, unlawful carrying of a handgun and other offenses, police said.

Drug arrest

Officers arrested a city man Wednesday after the man allegedly attempted to elude officers in his car, city police said.

Officers were called to Clay and West Washington streets for the report of a man in a pick-up spinning his tires and then speeding off toward Calvert Street. Officers caught up to the driver but he refused to stop, finally halting in the parking lot of the Annapolis Post Office on Church Circle, police said.

Two passengers of the vehicle got out and ran in different directions, and the driver also ran, dropping something from his waistband as he ran.

Police were able to catch up to the driver. They said they identified the item he threw out of his waistband as 21.8 grams of crack cocaine packaged in smaller plastic bags.

Dirk Terrell, 18, of Royal Street, was charged with drug possession and possession with intent to distribute, police said. Mr. Terrell also was arrested in July for drug possession with intent to distribute and will face a trial in that case in November, according to court records.

West County

Home invasion

A man with a knife kicked down a dead-bolted front door and robbed a Crofton couple who had been sleeping inside their golf course community town house early Thursday morning, county police said.

The couple was sleeping in their home in the 1500 block of Falstone Lane when at 1:20 a.m. they heard a louse noise downstairs. The man and woman could hear someone coming upstairs, and barricaded themselves in a second-floor bedroom by locking the door and putting a television and media stand in front of the door, police said.

The burglar kicked in the bedroom door, and forced the man into a bedroom closet with a knife. Police said he struck the man over the head several times and demanded money he said was owed to him.

As the man handed cash to the burglar, the woman ran out of the home for help. Officers were pulling up to the home as the man ran out and quickly arrested him, police said.

Thomas Eugene Springs, of Watch House Circle in Severn, was charged with burglary, armed robbery, destruction of property over $500, and giving a false statement to a police officer.

Police said Mr. Springs knew the victim, but their relationship is unknown. The resident told police he did not owe the man any money, police said.
