Man assaulted
A city man was charged with first-degree assault Sunday after he allegedly cut another man during a fight on Farragut Court, city police said.
Police were called to the area at just after 4 p.m. for the report of a fight. When officers arrived, they found two men covered in blood, and found a broken beer bottle lying in the street.
The victim, 26, said he had just pulled into a parking space when a man came running at him, swinging a beer bottle and yelling that the victim parked too close to his car, police said. He hit the victim's right hand, causing a deep cut.
Police said they charged Jose M. Menendez, 39, of Hilltop Lane, with first- and second-degree assault and reckless endangerment.
He is being held at the Jennifer Road Detention Center in lieu of a $50,000 bond.
Home burgled
A city woman was charged with burglary and assault Sunday after she allegedly broke into her sister's home on Madison Street and attacked her, city police said.
People inside the home told police that at 6:20 p.m., the woman kicked in the door, entered and attacked a woman inside. The alleged attacker punched the victim, 20, repeatedly on the face, stomach and back of the head, police said.
Police do not know what motivated the attack.
Danielle D. White, 27, of West Washington Street, was charged with burglary and assault, police said.
Shoplifting arrest
Police cited a girl, 9, and arrested a woman who the girl was with Thursday, after the girl allegedly tried to take a key chain from a downtown souvenir shop, and the woman, 18, assaulted and threatened an employee, city police said.
At about 7 p.m., police were called to A.L. Goodies at 112 Main St. for the report of the theft.
The employee told police she saw the girl take a key chain worth $4.99 and put it into her pocket. The employee tried to detain the girl, and the woman pushed and threatened the employee, police said.
The girl was charged as a juvenile with the theft, police said.
Tynisha N. Smith, 18, of Baltimore, was charged with assault, police said.
The key chain was returned to the store.
North County
Men robbed
Two men were robbed Saturday night at the Golden Corral at 7047 Arundel Mills Blvd. in Hanover, county police said.
The two victims told police they were at the restaurant at about 11 p.m. when several people approached them, and one had a handgun. They demanded money, and the victims handed over some cash. The robbers ran across the street and officers were not able to find them, police said.
The victims were not injured during the robbery, police said.
