Nature has always been the driving force in Myra Copus’s paintings. Her paintings are a lyrical homage to woods, water and atmosphere. Having worked for a number of years in watercolor, she combines transparency and immediacy of that medium with luminous color and overlay of oils. Her work shows this evolution and celebrates the joy, surprise and variety around us. Beauty is a reason to paint.
Copus is a longtime resident of Annapolis and constant painter. She received BFA from the University of Georgia, has had numerous one-person shows, and is in collections across the country.She is well known for animal portraits.
