Health services transportation
The county health department provides transportation services for eligible Medicaid, Medicare and Health Choice clients to their medical appointments through AAA Transport. Individuals with a valid Maryland Medical Assistance/Health Choice Card and without public or private transportation may be eligible for transport to and from appointments. Family planning
Family planning services, including free pregnancy tests, counseling, low cost gynecological exams, lab tests and low cost birth control supplies, are available through the county health department at (410) 222-7144.
Immunizations
The Anne Arundel County Health Department recommends children receive all their primary immunizations by age 2. Babies need shots at 2 months, 4 months, 6 months, 12 months and 15 months old. Boosters are given prior to entering kindergarten.

Children's program
The Maryland Children's Health Program can provide coverage through managed care organizations for hospital care, prescriptions, prenatal care, delivery, pediatric care and more for those with incomes at or below a specific level. Nutrition program for women, infants and children
The Women, Infants and Children (WIC) Supplemental Nutrition Program helps pregnant women, infants and children receive food including milk, cheese, juice, eggs, cereal, beans and iron fortified infant formula. To qualify you must live in the county, meet income guidelines and have a nutritional need. Call (410) 222-6797.
Adolescents program
The county's Family Planning for Adolescents program can help you and your children with health education, pregnancy testing, birth control, gynecological exams, testing and treatment of sexually transmitted infections, HIV/AIDS testing, counseling and referrals. Substance Abuse
Assessment and referral services
Substance abuse treatment and related assessment and referral services are available through the county health department's Addictions Services. County residents may call for information and assistance between 8:30 a.m. and 5 p.m. Monday through Friday. Adolescent and family services can be reached at (410) 222-6725. Methadone maintenance services are available for opiate addicted adults at (410) 222-7428.
Prevention services
The Anne Arundel County Department of Health's Prevention Services can help communities identify their most important drug and alcohol prevention needs and develop local resources to address those needs through the community and congregation certification program. HIV/AIDS
Testing clinics
If you have injected drugs, shared a needle or had unprotected sex, you could be carrying the virus which causes AIDS and not know it. Testing clinics are located countywide and offer free, anonymous counseling and testing for the human immunodeficiency virus (HIV). New treatments now show promise for controlling the progression of this disease. Early treatment of HIV is most effective. If you think you could be carrying the virus you should be tested. Appointments are required but names are not needed.
