The local business community is keeping an eye on a number of hot-button issues that could help or hurt it during this year's General Assembly session.
Lawmakers will consider a statewide smoking ban, new ways to cover the uninsured and better controls for stormwater runoff - all of which could have a significant impact on businesses throughout the county.
"We're approaching this session from an optimistic view unless we see a reason otherwise," said Bob Burdon, president and chief executive officer of the Annapolis and Anne Arundel County Chamber of Commerce, which will present a legislative briefing Thursday.
