On the morning of July 12, Ira Russ woke up to a startling reality. His shift supervisor at an Annapolis-based company known as iJET Intelligent Risk Systems informed him that terrorist group Hezbollah had kidnapped two Israeli soldiers.

Ed Daly of iJET sends out a security alert about a potential terrorist threat in the Philippines.That's when Mr. Russ, an iJET regional manager for the Middle East and North Africa, darted to work before sending a "critical alert" to 91 business travelers and roughly 200 security professionals.
