With military base realignment expected to add more than 20,000 jobs in the county by 2014, smaller businesses are scrambling to get ready - whatever that means.
At a lunch on Wednesday sponsored by the north and west county chambers of commerce, some business owners were discouraged by the lack of any clear, specific way to prepare for the Base Realignment and Closure process, though most acknowledged that its impact will be profound.
"They've been talking about thousands of jobs and people," said Liz Bell, a Millersville real estate agent. "But it sounds like a decade-long project."
