Local bio-firm lands DOD work
Annapolis - Bio-defense research company PharmAthene Inc., announced last week it had been selected for a $13.9 million federal contract to develop therapies against bacterial diseases.
The Department of Health and Mental Hygeine published the award notice Sept. 21, but PharmAthene has not received an executed agreement for the contract yet, officials said. Last year the firm won a multiyear deal worth up to $213 million to develop its treatment for nerve agents for the Department of Defense.
