Northrop Grumman, the county's largest private employer, said it will add 500 new jobs mostly in Anne Arundel County to help the defense contractor accommodate anticipated business requirements this year.
A majority of the jobs, which will specialize in engineering, electrical design and other technical areas, will be in Linthicum, where the company's Electronic Systems Sector is headquartered.
The rest will be split between various ESS sites including those near the Bay Bridge and in Sykesville, said Jack Martin, company spokesman.
